For a drug-free community

On the evening of December 19th, at Lam Son Square, the Provincial People's Committee, in coordination with the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security , the Department of Performing Arts, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, and the Vietnam National Drama Theatre, organized the program "For a Drug-Free Community".

Attending the program were: Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Vien, Director of the Drug Crime Investigation Department, Ministry of Public Security; People's Artist Xuan Bac, Director of the Performing Arts Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Director of the Vietnam National Drama Theatre; Major General Tran Phu Ha, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police; Dau Thanh Tung, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders from provincial departments and agencies, along with a large number of citizens.

The program was broadcast live on Thanh Hoa Radio and Television.

Over the years, drug prevention and control efforts in the province have achieved outstanding and significant results. Just since 2022, the province's specialized drug prevention and control forces have detected and arrested over 2,200 cases involving more than 4,200 drug offenders, seizing over 200 kg of various types of drugs; and sent nearly 2,000 individuals to compulsory rehabilitation centers. They have dismantled and eradicated 30 transnational drug trafficking rings from Laos and European countries, as well as hundreds of intra-provincial and inter-provincial drug trafficking rings. Nearly 2,000 complex drug trafficking hotspots and illegal drug trading locations have been eliminated.

Based on the above results, the drug crime situation in the province has been effectively combated, prevented, and resolved, creating positive changes in the crime and drug-related problems, ensuring security, order, and a peaceful life for the people.

Thanh Hoa is one of 10 provinces nationwide where the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism jointly organized the communication event "For a Drug-Free Community".

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Dau Thanh Tung, delivered a speech at the program.

Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dau Thanh Tung said: To continue effectively implementing drug prevention and control work in the province, and to achieve the goal of building 100% drug-free communes, wards, towns, districts, and cities in Thanh Hoa province by 2025, it is requested that provincial departments, agencies, and organizations, based on their functions and duties, develop very specific plans to coordinate with the Provincial Police and localities in implementing solutions to build drug-free areas.

We request that media outlets and newspapers increase airtime and actively organize propaganda about the policy of building drug-free communes, wards, towns, districts, and cities in the province.

Party committees and authorities at all levels, from district to commune, will continue to lead and direct the serious implementation of directives, resolutions, and plans issued on building drug-free communes, wards, towns, districts, and cities; setting out tasks, solutions, and assigning specific responsibilities to each collective and individual in the implementation according to the motto of clear responsibilities, clear tasks, clear accountability, and clear effectiveness.

Through this media event, the comrade called on every citizen in the province to be a soldier on the front lines of drug prevention and control; actively propagate and encourage their children, relatives, family members, relatives, villagers, neighborhoods, and communities to stay away from drugs; detect and report drug-related crimes and social evils, and cooperate with the police in preventing and combating drug-related crimes and social evils; and responsibly participate in the community in supporting, managing, educating, and assisting those with a troubled past to reintegrate into society, find employment, and prevent relapse and recidivism related to drugs.

Hopefully, after this media event, every official, Party member, and audience member will become an active propagandist, contributing to spreading the spirit of strong drug prevention and control in the community, agencies, units, and schools, working together to build a safe and drug-free community.

The short play "Turning Back Is the Shore" was performed at the program.

At the event, delegates and the public watched videos about drug prevention and control; musical performances and circus acts by artists from the Vietnam Circus Federation. Particularly noteworthy was the short play "Turning Back Is the Shore" - a story about empathy, sharing, and faith in the power of love and perseverance to help those who have gone astray overcome their difficulties.

Also at the event, People's Artist Xuan Bac interacted with and gave gifts to the people participating in the program.
