Through investigation, in 2019, Vo Duy Dai was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the People's Court of Cam Le District (Da Nang City) for illegal drug trafficking when he was only 17 years old. After being released from prison, Dai continued to follow the old path, connecting with other subjects to buy and sell drugs.
With experience, Dai operated more sophisticatedly. He did not appear directly but delivered drugs to his "henchmen" who traded with addicts. On November 30, 2023, this "henchmen" was arrested by the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Da Nang City Police.
When he learned that the police were looking for him, Vo Duy Dai fled to Ho Chi Minh City. In July 2024, Dai returned to Da Nang and ordered a gun and 6 bullets. During his escape, Dai intentionally gained 15kg in 6 months and wore glasses to hide from the police.
On September 25, due to needing money to spend and drugs to use, Dai contacted a subject in Ho Chi Minh City to buy drugs to use and resell for profit.
After many days of ambush, at 10:50 p.m. on September 26, in the Dong Da street area (Hai Chau district), a reconnaissance team arrested Nguyen Duy Son (25 years old, Hoa Vang district) with evidence of 4 ecstasy pills and 2.5 grams of ketamine that Son had bought from Dai earlier.
On September 27, when Vo Duy Dai had just stepped out of his house, detectives rushed in to control him. During the search, detectives seized 230 ecstasy pills, 80g of ketamine, 30g of crystal meth, 1 electronic scale, 1 gun along with 6 bullets (metal bullets) and some other related evidence.
Through a quick test, Dai tested positive for 3 types of drugs: ecstasy, ketamine and crystal meth.
Expanding the investigation, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department coordinated with Son Tra District Police to clarify the arrest of Dai's "henchman" on November 30, 2023 in Son Tra District. Dai admitted to directing this subject to sell drugs for him.
