Bustling market on the 30th of Tet, fruit trays are in high demand

On the morning of February 9 (the 30th day of the Lunar New Year), people flocked to the market to shop for Tet. This was the last market day of the year so it was much busier than usual.

Thanh Nien recorded at 8am, Thanh Da market (Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) was crowded with people shopping. Inside the market was packed with people and vehicles, buyers and sellers bustling throughout the year-end market.

Bustling market on 30th of Tet

This morning many people are looking to buy fruits in the fruit tray, betel and fresh flowers.

Many people are busy with year-end work so they take advantage of the morning of the 30th of Tet to buy food, fruit, votive paper... to prepare for the New Year's Eve offering.

Most people who go to the market at the end of the year take the opportunity to buy fruits and five-fruit trays.

Fruit stall for Tet

The price of betel and areca nuts is fluctuating from 10,000 - 12,000 VND/ portion (including betel and areca nuts and betel leaves). Traders at the market said that this price has doubled compared to normal days.

Prices of gladiolus flowers range from 50,000 - 60,000 VND/bunch, marigolds 20,000 VND/plant, chrysanthemums 80,000 VND/bunch...

Ms. Anh (living in Binh Thanh District) said that she had already bought some basic things in the past few days, so today she went to buy a few more things to make it complete. "This morning I mainly bought offerings, so I didn't bargain. Besides, I found that the prices this year are not too high compared to previous years," she said.

Prices of food at the market on the last day of the year increased sharply compared to normal days. However, according to traders, in general, purchasing power this year is not as good as in previous years.

Many traders said that this year people only bought enough, not as much as in previous years.

Traders at the market said the fruit trays are cheaper than last year.
