Accordingly, users can now query Gemini when using Google Maps thanks to the Ask about place menu, allowing users to chat with artificial intelligence (AI) about locations on the map. Specifically, users can ask questions about the locations they have visited through Google Maps.

To use the feature, users simply need to activate Gemini while opening Google Maps and tap the Ask about place button. The feature works for specific locations, like businesses, but not larger areas like cities.

With Google Maps still being the go-to mapping app for many people to find information about places, interacting with Google Maps through AI like Gemini would make for a more enjoyable experience. One current drawback with this feature is that it is not available on the iOS platform for iPhone.
