(NLDO) - It's the 27th day of Tet, but peach and kumquat trees are still flooding the streets in Thanh Hoa. Many garden owners have to "bite the bullet" to sell off their losses in order to return home in time for Tet.
On the afternoon of January 26 (ie 27th of Tet), walking around some streets selling many flowers and ornamental plants in the center of Thanh Hoa city such as: Nguyen Duy Hieu, Bao Ngoai, CSEPD Avenue, Le Hoan, Nguyen Trai... peach, kumquat, yellow apricot are still sold in abundance. However, the purchasing power of the people is not as expected, making many small traders worried, starting to sell off their goods.
Peach blossoms bloom all over the streets of Thanh Hoa City, but people's purchasing power is very low.
On Nguyen Duy Hieu Street, one of the streets that sells a lot of peach, kumquat, and ornamental flowers, very few people come to buy. Here, there are many peach gardens in full bloom, showing off their brilliant colors on the streets, but the number of people coming to see and buy is sparse.
Trader Le Van Hai said that this year he brought back to Thanh Hoa City about 700 Moc Chau peach trees (Son La) to sell. This is a beautiful peach variety, popular in the market, with a very high price.
Kumquat trees are sold all over Nguyen Duy Hieu street on the afternoon of January 26 (27th of Tet).
However, due to poor purchasing power of the people, combined with a few sunny days when the peach blossoms were all in bloom, he had to "bite the bullet" and sell the loss, because Tet was near.
In addition to selling at low prices, many gardeners have switched to renting, which will be more reasonable. After Tet, they will come back to take the peach trees back to take care of them for the next Tet crop.
In addition to peach, kumquat, and apricot trees, many gardeners and small traders have also reduced prices and hung up clearance signs, but people's purchasing power is still very slow.
Ancient peach trees like this are usually rented for 40-50 million VND. Now the price has been reduced by half, but it is still difficult to find tenants.
Peach trees are blooming brightly on the street, but the traders are unhappy when they don't see any customers coming to "take" them home for Tet.
A gardener imported hundreds of peach trees from Moc Chau (Son La). Now the peach trees are all blooming, forcing the gardener to "bite the bullet" and sell them at a loss.
Many visitors came to see but then hesitated and left.
When this peach tree first arrived at the Tet market, it was rented for 8-10 million VND, but now the gardener only rents it for 3 million VND.
Many gardeners still have a lot of goods, but customers are few.
Peach blossoms are very beautiful this year, but people are still not interested.
Small traders selling kumquat trees and ornamental kumquat trees are in a similar situation.
Even many small traders do not accept losses, collect goods to replant and wait for the next Tet.
Hang up clearance sale sign at original price but still no one buys
