On the afternoon of February 3, Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh - Head of Vinh Thai Commune Police, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province, said that he had received nearly 160 million VND in support of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa (55 years old), in Tan Mach Village, Vinh Thai Commune from many kind-hearted strangers. This heartwarming story on the first day of spring originated from the difficult circumstances of Ms. Hoa's family and the efforts of Vinh Thai Commune Police to find the person who lost the 1.5 million VND.

According to Captain Minh, on the afternoon of January 27 (ie December 28, the year of the Dragon), Ms. Le Thi Thanh Thuy (42 years old), residing in Tan Mach village, picked up 1.5 million VND while going from Tan Mach village to Thu Luat village. The money was wrapped in a piece of student notebook paper that had been torn diagonally by nearly a third, with 2 lines of notes about the Tet market, including: "bananas + areca nuts, betel, vegetables + 10 kg of sticky rice".
Vinh Thai Commune Police made efforts to find the person who dropped it and on the night of January 27, they went to Nguyen Thi Hoa's house to confirm that she was the owner and returned it. According to Vinh Thai Commune Police leaders, the first scene that appeared when they came to verify and return the money was that the neighbors were decorated with flags, lanterns, and bright flashing lights to prepare for Tet, while Hoa's house was the complete opposite.
In the house, there was an old man lying on the floor due to a congenital disability that prevented him from sleeping on a high bed. A child in grade 3 or 4, Ms. Hoa's grandchild, came to stay with her to celebrate Tet. Ms. Hoa had a haggard figure and a sad smile.
"The amount of money lost may not be much for many people, but in Ms. Hoa's situation, it is enough for a full Tet for the whole family," said Captain Minh.
Vinh Thai Commune Police decided to post a video of Ms. Hoa's situation on social media. And heartwarmingly, many benefactors donated to the account of Vinh Thai Commune Police Chief to share with Ms. Hoa.
Before New Year's Eve, the amount of money donated to Ms. Hoa that Vinh Thai Commune Police received was more than 100 million VND. And by the afternoon of February 2, the amount of money donated had reached nearly 160 million VND. "On February 3, we will go to the bank to make a statement and finalize the number. After that, we will work with the local authorities and Vinh Linh District Police to come up with a plan to give the money to Ms. Hoa's family," said Captain Minh.
Also according to Captain Hoang Ngoc Minh, while going out to celebrate Tet, a police officer of Vinh Thai commune picked up a large amount of money, then looked for the person who dropped it to return it. Specifically, on the morning of February 1 (the 4th day of Tet), Nguyen Van Minh (born in 1999), residing in Dong Luat village, Vinh Thai commune, picked up a leather wallet, inside were some personal documents and more than 21 million VND.
After finding the property, Mr. Minh quickly went to the commune police to report and hand over the property to verify and find the owner. After receiving the information, Vinh Tu commune police quickly verified and completed the procedures to return the property to the owner, Mr. Le Huu Phuong (born in 1981), in Thuy Tu village, Vinh Tu commune.
The two stories above are meaningful and full of human warmth in the first days of spring 2025.
