A fishing boat of Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province was fishing in the Northeast sea when it was sunk by waves. Four fishermen are missing.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Nam, Vice Chairman of Quang Xuong District, said that at around 1:00 a.m. on April 21, while fishing in the waters of Quang Ninh Province, the fishing boat of Mr. Hoang Van San, 45 years old, residing in Quang Nham Commune, was sunk by a large tornado.
The ship in distress had a capacity of 300 horsepower, was nearly 17 meters long, and had 8 crew members on board. By 8:00 a.m. today, authorities had rescued 4 crew members who were clinging to a foam buoy near the sinking ship.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Hoa province has requested functional units to support the rescue team in their efforts to search for the four missing people, including Captain San.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that for nearly a week, the North has been experiencing thunderstorms and hail due to a low-pressure trough compressed by a cool air mass from China. This situation is forecast to last until tomorrow, concentrated in mountainous provinces in the afternoon and evening.
