With 6 modern closed barns, total area of about 1,500m2, the farmer in Hung Yen invested in raising pigs, achieving an income of over 1 billion VND/year.
In 1993, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuc (born in 1976) in Lac Duc village, Hai Thang commune (Tien Lu, Hung Yen) had a work accident and lost his right hand at the age of 17. However, with determination, strong will, diligence, hard work, and knowing how to apply scientific and technological knowledge in animal husbandry, Mr. Thuc succeeded with a closed pig farming model in cold barns, bringing high income to his family.
In the early days after the accident, he traded livestock and poultry and gained experience in raising animals. In 2004, when he had a small amount of capital, he invested in building a pig farm on his family's 3-acre rice field.
Seeing the effectiveness of livestock farming, in 2010 he began to expand the area of the barn and invested in building bio-safe, closed, scientifically and appropriately arranged livestock barns. Up to now, his livestock farm is over 2 hectares wide with 6 modern closed barns, total area of about 1,500m2.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Thuc, Hai Thang commune (Tien Lu, Hung Yen) takes care of his pigs.
The barn includes a food processing area, a pig raising area and a biogas tank for manure treatment. It is built airy, regularly cleaned, sprayed with disinfectants, and isolated from the surrounding environment. The farm is equipped with modern equipment such as: water cooling system, exhaust fans, automatic feeding and drinking troughs, temperature control system inside the barn... All are monitored via camera. Therefore, although the farm is large and has a large herd of pigs, it only requires 3-4 workers to take care of them.
Currently, Mr. Thuc regularly raises about 200 sows and more than 300 pigs. Each month, the sows give birth to about 400 - 500 pigs. In addition to selling breeding pigs, he also raises them for commercial purposes.
Mr. Thuc said: To raise livestock effectively, disease prevention and control play a very important role. The pigs are fully and regularly vaccinated; the farm and barn are regularly sprayed with disinfectants, disinfected, and cleaned; strangers are not allowed into the barn area... Thanks to that, my family's pigs grow healthily, maintaining the total herd and the quality of livestock products.
To have a stable output, Mr. Thuc connects to sell pigs to traders without intermediaries. On average, each month, the farm sells from 200 to 300 breeding pigs, selling about 100 tons of pork each year.
From this pig farm model, each year brings Mr. Thuc an income of over 1 billion VND. Not only enriching himself, Mr. Thuc's farm also creates regular jobs for 3 local workers with an income of about 10 million VND/person/month...
