A 5,000 square meter lawn and reed field in Thu Duc City's high-tech park caught fire, spreading coal dust to many apartment buildings and a university village about 10 km away on the afternoon of March 17.
At around 5pm, the grass and dense dry trees in the high-tech park, Long Thanh My ward suddenly caught fire. Due to the dry weather and strong winds, the fire flared up very quickly and spread after a few minutes. The smoke and coal dust were blown away by the wind, falling into the yards of some households living in the apartment building and university village in Di An city, located many kilometers away.

Many fire trucks and nearly a dozen firefighters arrived to put out the fire. Firefighters used hoses to put out the fire while preventing it from spreading to electrical cabinets in the nearby industrial park. By 6:30 p.m., the fire was under control.
Recently, dry grass fields and scrap storage areas in Ho Chi Minh City have been continuously on fire due to the dry weather. In February, a fire in a dry grass field on Phan Chu Trinh Street, Ward 26, Binh Thanh District also created smoke and coal dust that spread widely, affecting many neighboring residential areas.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department, during the hot season, people and localities should clear bushes and handle spontaneous garbage dumps in the area to limit fires. Before handling garbage, it is necessary to collect it, create a safe distance, and supervise when burning.
