Currently, there are many cases of impersonating Electricity employees calling customers to demand electricity bills, if they do not pay, the electricity will be cut off, then asking to be friends on Zalo, download links... to steal money from customers' bank accounts. The Electricity Industry has also warned customers in many ways, however, there are still customers who become victims of this scam.

Through investigation, in the province, there have been 6 customers who have been scammed by phone calls by subjects impersonating Electricity employees and have had their money stolen for a total of 147 million VND. The main method of these subjects is to call and pretend to be Electricity employees, informing customers that they still owe electricity bills. When the customer replies that they have paid the electricity bill, these subjects continue to say that the customer's electricity payment transaction has not been successful, if it is in accordance with regulations, the Electricity will cut off the customer's electricity. They continue to instruct customers, in order to avoid having their electricity cut off, to ask customers to make friends on Zalo, make video calls to support customers in making payments again. Once customers trust them, these subjects send a link to install a fake App, instructions on how to install the fake App on the customer's phone. During the process of installing the fake App and following the instructions, the customer authenticates their face, provides the bank's OTP money transfer message, from which the scammer will steal money in the customer's account.
Bac Lieu Power Company affirms that the Electricity industry in general and Bac Lieu Power Company in particular do not do the above. To notify electricity bills or remind about electricity debt, the Electricity industry only sends messages via the official EVNSPC Customer Service application of the Electricity industry, absolutely does not make phone calls, does not send App installation links, payment QR codes... or ask customers to make friends on Zalo, call via Zalo. In case customers are late in paying their electricity bills, the Electricity industry will continue to send messages to notify about temporary power outage after 24 hours via the EVNSPC Customer Service application or send notifications directly to customers.
In order to widely inform the people and customers to proactively prevent and deal with the above-mentioned scams, Bac Lieu Electricity Company recommends that when customers receive calls impersonating Electricity employees, they should not provide personal information or comply with any requests from these subjects. At the same time, immediately notify the Electricity Company via hotline 19001006 or 19009000 for timely support.
