Prime Minister chairs the third meeting on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses

Also attending the meeting at the Government Headquarters were Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee - Nguyen Hoa Binh ; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee - Do Van Chien and representatives of leaders of relevant ministries, branches and agencies.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide is an important task with profound humanitarian significance.

The meeting was connected online with 63 provinces and centrally-run cities. At the Long An province bridge, Provincial Party Secretary - Nguyen Van Quyet chaired.

Since the launch of the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" to March 6, 2025, the whole country has supported the elimination of 121,638/223,146 temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching 54.5%. Of which, 65,564 houses have been inaugurated and 56,074 new houses have been started. Thereby, helping many families reduce difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives.

In Long An, to date, the total number of temporary and dilapidated houses in need of construction and repair is 107. Localities have started construction and repair of 105/107 houses; of which, 51 have been completed. There are currently 2 houses in Thanh Hoa district, expected to start construction on March 17, 2025.

At the conference, delegates focused on evaluating the achieved results, sharing difficulties and obstacles, especially implementation resources; good models, effective methods; lessons learned in directing and implementing the movement; key tasks, breakthrough solutions in the coming time to complete the set goals, practically welcoming the provincial party congress, towards the 14th National Party Congress.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide is an important political task with profound humanitarian significance, demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love; national love, compatriots' sentiment; the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the torn leaves cover the many leaves" of the nation. This is a "gift" for the people, especially the poor, the disadvantaged, people in remote areas, ethnic minorities with the spirit of "settling down to make a living". From now until the end of the year, the whole country must complete more than 101,000 houses in a very urgent time. On average, the whole country must eliminate 459 houses/day, each locality must eliminate 8 houses/day.

To achieve the set goals, the Prime Minister requested that localities discuss and do not retreat; actively overcome difficulties, make great efforts, be highly determined, take drastic and effective actions; assign tasks in the spirit of 5 clear points (clear people, clear work, clear results, clear progress, clear responsibilities); continue to promote the spirit of "whoever has something helps, whoever has a lot helps a lot, whoever has little helps a little, whoever has merit helps merit, whoever has property helps property".

In addition, localities should step up propaganda and mobilization work; strengthen inspection and supervision work; pay attention to praising and promptly rewarding collectives and individuals with good and effective practices and excellent achievements in implementing the movement./.
