Solidarity through the storm

The historic flood in mid-September was assessed as the strongest in the past 30 years. The devastation caused by natural disasters caused extremely heavy damage to the province and it seemed that it would be difficult to recover. However, with efforts, solidarity and the highest determination, Tuyen Quang has steadfastly overcome everything.

The historic flood caused hundreds of households to lose their homes; thousands of hectares of rice, crops, industrial trees; livestock, cages and many traffic works, irrigation works, and power lines were destroyed by natural disasters. The estimated damage caused by the historic flood is nearly 2,000 billion VND, accounting for 50% of the province's budget revenue in 2024 - an unprecedented figure. In the most difficult times, the entire political system of the province has joined in with a spirit of solidarity, urgency, and determination in the work of preventing and fighting natural disasters and quickly restoring and rebuilding production after the storm.

Provincial leaders, regardless of time or danger, were present at all key points to direct the work of preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Armed forces, police, army, and militia were ready to rescue and help people. Not only did authorities at all levels participate, but Tuyen Quang people also demonstrated a high sense of self-awareness and responsibility. Everyone proactively implemented measures to protect property and homes, and were ready to help those around them. Images of people moving belongings together, reinforcing dikes, helping the elderly, children, etc. have become beautiful symbols of humanity and community strength.

In September and October, meetings were held to show determination to join forces and make efforts to overcome difficulties to rebuild, based on valuable support from neighboring provinces and cities, philanthropists, and the business community. Trucks carrying relief goods, financial support, and words of encouragement and sharing have added strength and helped Tuyen Quang people confidently stand up after the losses.

While neighboring provinces were still reeling from the storm and flood, Tuyen Quang, with a spirit of solidarity, unanimity and cooperation, quickly recovered. Production was restored, roads and structures that had been destroyed were quickly rebuilt, traces of natural disasters were healed, and a new rhythm of life soon returned to every village and street.

“Just work, no back talk”

Besides the lesson of solidarity, there is also the lesson of proactiveness and determination in leadership and direction.

2024 is the year of acceleration, breakthrough, striving to successfully achieve the socio-economic development goals of the entire 2020-2025 term and prepare steps to successfully organize party congresses at all levels, the 18th Provincial Party Congress towards the 14th National Party Congress.

Having identified this, right from the first days and months of 2024, the province has proactively directed resolutely, focusedly, and urgently implemented tasks and solutions in all socio-economic fields, ensuring national defense and security according to the Government's motto for 2024 "Discipline, responsibility, proactive and timely, accelerating creativity, sustainable efficiency"; continuing to innovate leadership and management methods, promoting responsibility, resolutely, promptly, and closely coordinating, synchronously, and effectively with the spirit of "5 determinations", "5 guarantees", "5 promotion" and only discussing and doing, not retreating in any task.

In directing and operating in any field, provincial leaders always emphasize: All levels, sectors, and leaders must uphold responsibility, be decisive, and timely; if there is any delay, it is a mistake to the people.

The determination and drastic direction in the management and implementation of tasks from the province to the grassroots level have brought about worthy achievements. The development targets of the fields of agriculture, forestry and fishery, industry and construction, and services have all increased, the economic scale has exceeded 50,000 billion VND. Mobilizing and effectively using resources to promote socio-economic development, the total social investment capital reached over 15,600 billion VND; public investment capital reached over 5,800 billion VND.

In 2024, the Provincial People's Committee directed to remove difficulties and obstacles for 45 investors in project implementation, including 18 industrial production projects and 13 more industrial projects completed and put into production and business. Thereby, it has created trust, spread, attracted more and more businesses and investors to the province, thereby creating development momentum for the province in the new period.

In the speech of comrade Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the 9th Session of the 19th Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026, he emphasized: With the goal of maintaining a growth momentum of over 9% in 2025, all levels, sectors, localities, especially leaders, more than ever, must have an innovative mindset with high determination, great efforts, and drastic actions with the spirit of "dare to think, dare to do, dare to break through for the common good"; "what is said is done, what is committed must be done; what is done, what is done must be effective". Effectively use all local resources, promote investment attraction, create a favorable environment for people and businesses.

With great efforts and determination, 2025 is expected to continue to be a breakthrough year to reach the finish line in socio-economic development and complete the goal of developing Tuyen Quang quite well, comprehensively and sustainably in the Northern mountainous region according to the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.
