Dien Bien: Cassava purchasing price decreased

Dien Bien TV - In the 2024 - 2025 crop year, Dien Bien province will plant about 16,800 hectares of cassava. These days, farmers are actively harvesting the entire area. However, the market price of cassava has decreased quite sharply.

Cassava is widely grown in Dien Bien, Dien Bien Dong, Muong Nhe, Nam Po districts... According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, this crop year, the average cassava yield is over 96 quintals/ha; the total output is estimated at over 132 thousand tons.

According to the survey, the purchasing price of cassava this season has decreased significantly compared to the previous season. Specifically: Fresh cassava is sold at 800 - 1,400 VND/kg, down 1,000 - 1,500 VND/kg; dried cassava is priced at 3,500 - 4,000 VND/kg, down 500 - 1,000 VND/kg...

According to traders, the decrease in cassava prices is mainly due to a decrease in demand from domestic starch processing factories; along with that, the supply has increased sharply as many households have massively expanded their cassava growing areas, causing prices to fall even further./.
