On the morning of March 22, Korean Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Song Mi Ri Ung and his delegation visited the carrot production area in Duc Chinh commune (Cam Giang) and worked with leaders of Hai Duong province.
Also attending were representatives from the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam).
Comrade Tran Van Quan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee received and worked with the delegation at the People's Committee of Duc Chinh commune. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, leaders of Cam Giang district and Duc Chinh commune.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan introduced to the Minister and the working delegation some information about the socio-economic development situation of Hai Duong.
Accordingly, Hai Duong has about 105,000 hectares of agricultural land, with a convenient transportation system that allows for quick trade and transportation of goods. The province's agricultural production is carried out in the direction of large-scale concentrated goods, applying high technology, and producing according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP safety standards. The province's agricultural products have been exported to markets with high quality requirements such as Korea, the US, and Europe, typically exporting lychees and carrots to Korea.
As for carrots, the province annually grows about 1,500 hectares, with an output of about 80,000 - 100,000 tons, worth about 800 billion VND/year, with exports to Korea accounting for about 40% of the output. Therefore, Korea is always identified by Hai Duong province as the most important market, determining the success of the province's carrot production and export.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that recently, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development of Korea, especially Minister Song Mi Ri Ung personally, has supported and resolved many difficulties, helping Vietnamese carrot products continue to be exported to Korea.
In addition, the Korean Government has provided non-refundable aid of approximately 2.6 million USD to build and upgrade the factory system, install equipment lines for preliminary processing, classifying vegetables and cold storage at Duc Chinh and Tan Minh Duc Cooperatives. The above support has helped the two cooperatives preserve agricultural products at the highest quality, meeting market requirements.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan requested the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development of Korea to continue to support Hai Duong's carrots and quality agricultural products to be exported smoothly to Korea. On the other hand, pay attention and support to build more facilities for preliminary processing and preserving agricultural products in Hai Duong province.
Hai Duong province is committed to creating all favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to cooperate and invest in the province, especially in the fields of production, preliminary processing and agricultural processing.
Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Song Mi Ri Ung, after visiting the safe carrot growing area and carrot processing facility of Duc Chinh Cooperative, expressed satisfaction with the local carrot export production process.
The Minister hopes that with the available facilities and equipment, the locality will continue to produce more quality carrot products. After this trip, the cooperation between Korea and Hai Duong will be closer and more effective.
The Minister also hopes that Vietnam in general and Hai Duong in particular will pay more attention to Korean agricultural products and suggested that the province continue to create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises to invest in the province.
