In recent times, Australia has been one of the leading countries providing official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam, supporting Vietnam in many diverse fields, from infrastructure construction to promoting agricultural and rural development with many practical projects and works for Vietnam's sustainable development. Particularly in the field of transportation, the two typical projects are the construction of My Thuan Bridge and Cao Lanh Bridge.
This shows the affection of the Australian people and Government for the Vietnamese people. Australian ODA capital not only helps to complete the transport infrastructure but also transfers technology, trains and improves the management skills of Vietnamese bridge and road engineers to continue implementing the country's next projects.
Recently, Australia continued to support the Transport Sector Technical Assistance Program (Aus4Transport) with a budget of 30 million AUD, ending on 30/6/2024. The program has supported project development, assisted in improving pre-feasibility studies, feasibility studies, technical designs and bidding documents conducted by the Ministry of Transport, and strengthened the management capacity of the transport sector.
"In particular, the great support of the Australian Government for Vietnam has been greatly contributed by Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski. During his term in Vietnam, the Ambassador has shown great affection for the Vietnamese people and the transport sector and has made many effective and positive contributions to strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries in general and the transport sector in particular," Minister Tran Hong Minh expressed.
