The Ministry of Transport works with Thai Binh province on detailed planning for the development of land, water and seaports in Thai Binh.

On the afternoon of August 3, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session with the delegation of the Ministry of Transport led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Sang, Deputy Minister of Transport, on the detailed planning for the development of land, water and seaports in Thai Binh, period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

Comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee spoke at the meeting.

Also attending were leaders of a number of departments, branches, sectors and Tien Hai and Thai Thuy districts.

At the meeting, delegates listened to the consulting unit's report and gave comments on the detailed planning for the development of land, water, and seaports in Thai Binh for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the planning scope includes the entire land and water areas at Diem Dien, Tra Ly, Ba Lat port areas; buoy wharves, anchorage and transshipment areas, waiting areas for bridges and anchorage areas to avoid and shelter from storms; water areas for public maritime infrastructure works, shipping channels, pilot boarding and disembarkation areas, quarantine areas and works serving state management. The total planning area up to 2030 is more than 25,360 hectares; of which, the planning area for seaport land is about 66 hectares; the planning area for seaport water is over 650 hectares; the area of ​​other land and water areas is about 24,600 hectares. Especially for the planning of Thai Binh seaport, with the goal of developing green, clean, modern, and synchronous Thai Binh seaport infrastructure; effectively meeting the needs of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, protecting the environment, adapting to climate change and rising sea levels. Thai Binh province focuses on investing in the construction of a number of important ports in the areas of Diem Dien, Ba Lat, etc., thereby contributing to the construction and development of Thai Binh Economic Zone. In particular, it emphasizes: Developing a system of Thai Binh seaports with high competitiveness, diverse and modern services; contributing to the development and economic growth of the province in the coming period.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: planning for the development of land, water and seaports in Thai Binh is very important for the development of the province in the current period, especially planning for seaport development.

The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that the Ministry of Transport would create favorable conditions to support Thai Binh province in formulating policies to develop detailed plans for the development of land, water, and seaports in Thai Binh for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

He requested the Ministry of Transport to direct the Vietnam Maritime Administration to coordinate with the province in the process of implementing the project of dredging the Diem Dien maritime channel as well as the management, exploitation and periodic maintenance after the project is completed, to ensure maritime safety, ensure the channel has been invested in dredging and promote the effectiveness of the project.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Xuan Sang said that Thai Binh province needs to focus more on developing the dry port system and inland waterway network system; in which, it is necessary to further strengthen the management of inland waterway traffic infrastructure.

Regarding seaports, the Deputy Minister of Transport requested Thai Binh province to soon make an official written request so that the Ministry has a basis to add Diem Dien maritime channel to the annual maintenance, dredging and repair plan of the Ministry of Transport, serving the needs of transporting goods and fishing boats of fishermen in and out of the channel as well as ensuring security and coastal defense in Thai Binh province.

He directed the Vietnam Maritime Administration to proactively advise the Ministry on capital allocation as well as coordinate with the province in the process of implementing the Diem Dien navigation channel dredging project as well as the management, exploitation and periodic maintenance after the project is completed.

He requested the Vietnam Maritime Administration and Thai Binh province to closely coordinate with the consulting unit to speed up the planning process and conduct deeper and more detailed research, ensuring a scientific basis and considering the consistency of the detailed planning. He noted that the consulting unit should take into account the opinions at the meeting, especially the opinions and proposals of Thai Binh province, to complete the planning, especially the seaport planning.

He also gave specific comments on a number of contents related to planning of land, water areas, seaports, maritime transport and research and development of wind power... At the same time, he accepted the province's suggestions and updated some contents in the master plan in the coming time.
