According to information from the Department of Health, the current measles epidemic situation in the country and some provinces bordering Yen Bai province is complicated, with an increasing trend in the number of measles cases. In Yen Bai province, as of March 21, 11 cases of measles/rash fever suspected of measles were recorded scattered in Van Yen district (05), Nghia Lo town (02), Mu Cang Chai district (02), Tran Yen district (01), Yen Bai city (01).
To proactively control the epidemic, prevent it from spreading and breaking out on a large scale , the Department of Health requests the Center for Disease Control to continue to closely monitor the measles epidemic situation in the country and in the province; promptly advise and proactively deploy measures to prevent and control the epidemic in the area. Coordinate with relevant units to strengthen monitoring, take samples for testing to identify pathogens, early detect suspected cases of the disease at medical facilities and in the community for timely handling; control and prevent the spread and outbreak of the epidemic in the community.
Direct and coordinate with the Medical Centers to advise on vaccine needs, ensure adequate medicines, medical equipment, supplies, chemicals, and human resources to meet the requirements of disease prevention and control, and deploy a measles vaccination campaign to ensure safety and timely completion of the campaign no later than March 31, 2025.
Receive and distribute measles vaccines promptly to localities immediately after receiving vaccines from the Central Government to effectively implement the measles vaccination campaign. Coordinate with press and media agencies and relevant units to promote information, propaganda, recommendations and guidance on measles prevention and control measures, emphasizing the benefits of measles vaccination.
Provincial general hospitals, private general and specialized hospitals coordinate with the Center for Disease Control to proactively monitor and detect measles/suspected measles cases at the unit. Perform well the work of admitting, providing emergency care, treating patients and preparing plans in case of increased hospitalizations, minimizing cases of severe illness and death, especially for high-risk groups. Ensure adequate medicine, medical equipment, supplies, chemicals, and human resources to meet the requirements of treatment and prevention of measles epidemics.
Medical centers of districts, towns and cities assess the situation of measles in the locality, regularly assess risks, identify high-risk areas to propose priority solutions for disease prevention and control, plans to organize vaccination campaigns suitable to the actual situation and according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health, to prevent measles outbreaks in the future. Continue to proactively monitor and detect early cases of the disease at medical facilities and in the community to thoroughly handle them, to prevent the disease from spreading and breaking out.
Coordinate with local authorities to strengthen screening and management of vaccination subjects to ensure close monitoring of the actual situation; not to miss any subjects, especially in areas at risk of outbreaks, in the spirit of "going to every alley, knocking on every door, screening every subject".
Propose vaccine needs according to instructions and effectively implement the expanded immunization program, catch-up vaccination, and catch-up vaccination for subjects who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated with measles-containing vaccines. Organize vaccination forms suitable to the actual conditions and characteristics of each locality such as mobile vaccination, home vaccination to ensure safety, timeliness, and effectiveness, and achieve completion by March 31 at the latest.
Strengthen information, communication, and propaganda to mobilize people, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority areas, to proactively implement measures to prevent and control measles and vaccinate children fully and on schedule.
