Attending the inspection were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Nam Hung and representatives of relevant departments, branches and local authorities.
The Co Co River dredging project (from Km14 - Km19+456 - from Ong Tu bridge, Dien Duong ward (Dien Ban) to the border of Da Nang city) under the project to develop the environment and urban infrastructure to respond to climate change in Hoi An city was previously a project to dredge and clear the Co Co River. However, the project has been technically stopped due to prolonged land clearance problems and the ODA loan agreement has expired.
The town People's Committee said that on this section of the route, there are still more than 30 hectares of area that have not been compensated and cleared, with more than 500 households affected.
The stakeholders also raised difficulties and obstacles in the compensation and site clearance work of this project. Dien Ban Town proposed that the total estimated funding requirement for the compensation and site clearance work for the remaining part of the project is about 180 billion VND.
Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested Dien Ban town to have high political determination to remove "bottlenecks" in site clearance work for this route.
This is not simply dredging the river, but also creating leverage to promote regional tourism connectivity, opening up opportunities for strong urban development in Dien Ban and many other issues once the Co Co River is cleared."

Determining that the project must continue to be implemented in the coming period with public investment resources and a new project must be established, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested the Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments and branches to study, consider and balance, and arrange a part of the medium-term public investment budget in the 2021-2025 period to serve the site clearance work of this project before continuing to implement it in the medium-term public investment period of 2026-2030.
The provincial leaders also noted that local authorities must strengthen dialogue and reconciliation among relevant parties to promptly resolve difficulties in compensation for the project for common development; at the same time, they requested Dien Ban town to increase the arrangement of specialized staff to regularly support the People's Committees of wards, because if only grassroots staff do it, it will be very difficult.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and the provincial delegation also inspected the Da Nang University Urban Area Project (Dien Ngoc Ward, Dien Ban) to examine the current situation and listen to the Dien Ban town government's proposed solutions to prepare for the upcoming working session with competent authorities.
This project has been "suspended" for more than a quarter of a century and has affected hundreds of households in the area, depriving them of their legitimate rights.
