Quang Tri Party Secretary Le Quang Tung appointed as Secretary General of the National Assembly

With a majority in favor, the National Assembly elected Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary Le Quang Tung as a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Secretary General of the National Assembly.

On November 28, the National Assembly voted to pass a resolution to elect Mr. Le Quang Tung as a member of the National Assembly Standing Committee and Secretary General of the 15th National Assembly by electronic voting.

The results were as follows: 454 delegates participated in the vote (equal to 94.78% of the total number of delegates), 453 delegates approved (equal to 94.57% of the total number of delegates), and 1 delegate did not vote (equal to 0.21% of the total number of delegates).

The Secretary General of the National Assembly is elected, dismissed, and removed by the National Assembly. The Secretary General of the National Assembly is responsible for advising and serving the activities of the National Assembly, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, and National Assembly deputies, and performing specific duties and powers:

Advise the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the expected working program of the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly; on the process and procedures for implementing the activities of the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

Coordinate with the Nationalities Council, the National Assembly Committees and relevant agencies and organizations to draft resolutions on the contents assigned by the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee.

To be the spokesperson of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee; to organize the work of providing information, press, publishing, libraries, museums, and applying information technology to serve the activities of the National Assembly, National Assembly agencies, and National Assembly deputies.

Organize secretarial work at National Assembly sessions and National Assembly Standing Committee meetings; collect and synthesize opinions of National Assembly deputies; sign minutes of sessions and meeting minutes.

Perform other tasks and powers assigned by the Chairman of the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The Secretariat assists the Secretary General of the National Assembly. The specific organizational structure, tasks and powers of the Secretariat are prescribed by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The Secretary General of the National Assembly is also the Head of the Office of the National Assembly, responsible to the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for the activities of the Office of the National Assembly.
