On July 18, related to the case of a man attacking a doctor on night duty at Gia Dinh People's Hospital (on July 27, 2022), after 1 year of investigation, Binh Thanh District Police initiated a case and prosecuted Dao Quoc Bao (41 years old) for disturbing public order.
To serve the investigation, Binh Thanh District Police prohibits suspect Dao Quoc Bao from leaving his place of residence. These decisions were approved by Binh Thanh District People's Procuracy.
Previously, on July 28, 2022, Binh Thanh District Police received a criminal complaint from Doctor PHT (33 years old, working at Gia Dinh People's Hospital), about being assaulted during the night shift.
Mr. Dao Quoc Bao was prosecuted for attacking an emergency doctor at Gia Dinh People's Hospital.
According to the investigation results, at around 9:00 p.m. on July 27, 2022, Mr. Bao's daughter (10 years old) choked on a fish bone and was taken to the emergency room at Gia Dinh People's Hospital. The doctor examined the girl and found that her vital signs were normal, she had no difficulty breathing, and she did not cry.
The doctor instructed the child to wait for about 10 minutes for the ENT specialist to come and perform an endoscopy to remove the bone. However, about 5 minutes later, while Dr. T. was sitting there watching CT scans and X-rays of other patients, Mr. Bao rushed in, shouted, threatened, choked, and pushed the child down.
It was not until hospital security came to intervene that Mr. Bao stopped.
Doctor PHT said that at the time of the incident, the Emergency Department was very crowded with patients. When he was assaulted, he was very surprised and scared.
When the police invited him to come in for questioning, Mr. Bao admitted that he got angry because he was so worried about his child choking on a bone and having to wait for a long time.
According to Binh Thanh District Police, Mr. Dao Quoc Bao was fully aware that the doctor was performing emergency duties and explained the child's condition, but Mr. Bao did not comply and instead used force to attack the doctor. This is a violation of the law and must be punished.
