Closing of the National Press Festival 2024

On the morning of March 17 in Ho Chi Minh City, the 2024 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovating for the revolutionary cause of the Party and People" closed.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2024 National Press Festival, spoke at the closing ceremony on the morning of March 17.

Attending the closing ceremony were Mr. Tran Luu Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Ms. Vu Viet Trang, General Director of Vietnam News Agency; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, and representatives of ministries, departments, local agencies, and press agencies nationwide.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that after 3 days of many exciting activities, the 2024 National Press Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Press - Pioneering, Innovation for the revolutionary cause of the Party and People" has been a great success. The 2024 National Press Festival was held for the first time in the South on a large scale. Despite many difficulties, with the solidarity and consensus of departments, branches and press agencies, it attracted 120 exhibition booths from 63 provinces and cities. This is a gathering of journalists from all over the country.

"Over the past 3 days, the 2024 National Press Conference has had many interactive and exchange activities to help increase the connection between journalists and between the press and the public. This is the beauty of journalists. The Press Conference demonstrates the solidarity between the press and all levels and sectors, between the press and businesses, and between the press and the public; thereby together seizing opportunities, overcoming difficulties and challenges to serve the people better and better," added Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi.

Within the framework of the 2024 National Press Festival, the Organizing Committee judged and awarded the following prizes: Outstanding Booth Award; Impressive Tet Radio Program Award; Impressive Tet Television Program Award; Impressive Tet Electronic Interface Award and Impressive Tet Newspaper Cover Award to press agencies. Of which, Vietnam News Agency won the Outstanding Booth Award, VietNamplus Newspaper and Tin Tuc Newspaper won the Impressive Tet Electronic Interface Award.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia praised the Vietnam Journalists Association and other units for their coordination and successful organization of the 2024 National Press Festival. The theme of this year's Press Festival has been a pioneer in propagating and orienting public opinion on important political, socio-economic, national defense, security and foreign affairs tasks of the country; innovating in leadership, direction and management thinking in information content, production and publishing processes in production and business; diversifying revenue sources so that the press can maintain and promote its key role in information and communication activities, towards the noble goal of serving the great cause of the Party and the People.

Press agency representatives received the Outstanding Booth Award at the 2024 National Press Festival.

The Head of the Central Propaganda Department also hopes that press agencies need to focus on promoting the implementation of this year's socio-economic development tasks; closely follow the breath of life to reflect, contribute ideas, create and spread good and humane values ​​in society; bring policies and laws into life, meeting the expectations of all people; at the same time, continue to promote digital transformation, apply modern technology, pay attention to investing in upgrading equipment and facilities and regularly innovate production and broadcasting work.

In addition, press agencies also need to strengthen the work of building a clean and strong Party, constantly foster and improve the political capacity, education, revolutionary ethics, and professional expertise of journalists; gradually improve to build each press agency into a typical cultural agency. Heads of press agencies and magazines need to promote their roles and responsibilities within the scope of their duties and powers, especially in implementing legal regulations on the press, especially better implementing the principles and goals, having strict management solutions and creating favorable conditions for the team of collaborators, reporters, and editors to operate.

Ms. Vu Viet Trang, General Director of Vietnam News Agency, presented the Impressive Tet Electronic Interface award to a representative of VietNamplus newspaper.

In addition, for the Vietnam Journalists Association, it is necessary to promote the emulation movement to build a cultural press agency and a culture of journalists, organize the Association's activities well; at the same time, handle violations of regulations on professional ethics of journalists; strengthen monitoring, supervision, inspection, conclusion and handling of violations of professional ethics and rules on the use of social networks of journalists at all levels of the association from the central to local levels; continue to innovate political and ideological education work; strengthen the organization of seminars, focus on training and fostering modern journalism skills with journalistic working methods in the digital environment and propagate, disseminate, educate, inspect professional ethics and behavior on social networks.

Representatives of press agencies received the award for Impressive Tet Electronic Interface at the 2024 National Press Festival.

The 2024 National Press Festival is chaired by the Vietnam Journalists Association, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, and will take place from March 15 to 17 in Ho Chi Minh City. The 2024 National Press Festival is the largest ever, with the participation of more than 600 press agencies from central to local levels, including nearly 300 press agencies and Vietnam Journalists Associations in 63 provinces and cities nationwide.
