On the last day of the year of Giap Thin (January 28, the 29th day of the Lunar New Year), many domestic flights still have tickets but the prices are not "affordable", especially for last-minute flights.
Ticket prices are high, but last minute tickets are still available.
According to a survey conducted by Tuoi Tre Online on January 28, flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi operated by Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet and Bamboo Airways still have tickets available, even at the last minute. Ticket prices range from VND2.7 million/way for Vietjet to VND4.4 million/way for Vietnam Airlines; business class tickets cost up to VND6.4 million/way.
Hot flights such as Ho Chi Minh City - Vinh, Ho Chi Minh City - Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City - Thanh Hoa... are increasingly scarce at the end of the year. Most of them only have business class tickets with prices ranging from 4-6 million VND/way.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route are still quite abundant. For example, Vietnam Airlines flight VN146 on the afternoon of January 28 costs 2.7 million VND/way.
Many people take advantage of the last days of the year to travel to tourist destinations. The Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route currently has a ticket price from 1.8 million VND/way by Vietjet, while Vietnam Airlines lists it at 2.7 million VND/way.
In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat route suddenly dropped in price. Vietjet and Bamboo Airways tickets are only 900,000 VND/way, much lower than the 1.9 million VND of Vietnam Airlines.
On the contrary, "off-route" flights from Hanoi, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong to Ho Chi Minh City are currently quite cheap due to the low number of passengers. This is an opportunity for those with flexible schedules.
An airline representative said that after Tet, the demand for flights from the central and northern provinces back to Ho Chi Minh City is very high, especially during the period from the 2nd to the 8th of Tet. Customers should proactively book tickets early to avoid the situation of no seats available.
Tan Son Nhat Airport reduces pressure
According to information from Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on January 28 (29th of Lunar New Year), the airport welcomed and saw off 784 flights, a significant decrease compared to 957 flights the previous day. Of these, there were 386 departure flights (244 domestic flights, 142 international flights) and 398 arrival flights (258 domestic flights, 140 international flights).
The total number of passengers passing through the airport reached 107,619, a sharp decrease compared to 138,086 passengers yesterday. Of which, there were 64,929 departing passengers and 42,699 arriving passengers.
Despite the reduced number of flights, the domestic terminal at Tan Son Nhat airport was still bustling on the afternoon of the 29th of Tet. Many passengers patiently lined up to check in, preparing for the last flight of the year to return home to reunite with their families.
