On January 3, Ben Tre Provincial Police announced that the Investigation Police Agency had prosecuted and temporarily detained Ngo Minh Thong (29 years old, residing in Tan Phuoc district, Tien Giang province) to investigate the act of "Murder".
Ngo Minh Thong is the suspect who killed the girl and then threw her body into the Ham Luong River to destroy the evidence.
According to the investigation, on the morning of December 29, 2023, the Criminal Police Department (Ben Tre Provincial Police) received a report about the discovery of a body contained in a plastic bag washed up on the alluvial land along the Ham Luong River (in the area of My Thanh An commune, Ben Tre city).
After conducting an autopsy, the Ben Tre Provincial Police Department determined that the incident had signs of a “murder” crime, so they initiated a criminal case. Using professional measures, the police identified the victim as Ms. NTH (28 years old, residing in Cai Lay town, Tien Giang).
Through verifying the victim's identity and relationships, the police determined that Ngo Minh Thong had many suspicious signs.
At the police station, Ngo Minh Thong confessed that due to a love conflict with Ms. H., he killed the victim in My Tho City (Tien Giang Province), then transported the body to Ham Luong Bridge and threw it into the river to destroy the evidence.
It is worth mentioning that Ngo Minh Thong is a lieutenant and police officer of Cai Lay town (Tien Giang).
Afterwards, the Board of Directors of Tien Giang Provincial Police Department executed the disciplinary decision to "strip the title of People's Police" from Ngo Minh Thong.
Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee has awarded 20 million VND to the Criminal Police Department (Provincial Police) for their outstanding achievements in investigating and quickly solving the above-mentioned murder and body disposal case.
