The fire occurred at the VNPT Tien Giang telecommunications headquarters, affecting the VinaPhone network.
On the morning of March 15, the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police force (Tien Giang Provincial Police) was still on duty at the scene of the fire at the VNPT Tien Giang telecommunications headquarters.
According to initial information, on the evening of March 14 and early morning of March 15, a fire suddenly broke out inside the Tien Giang Telecommunications building on Le Loi Street, Ward 1, My Tho City.
Upon receiving the news, many fire trucks and dozens of officers and soldiers of the Fire Police and Rescue Department arrived at the scene to put out the fire.
However, because there are many cables and batteries in the basement of Tien Giang Telecom headquarters, the fire fighting work encountered many difficulties and was quite complicated. All fire fighting forces had to wear professional protective gear to approach the scene.
Colonel Nguyen Minh Tan and Colonel Nguyen Van Loc, Deputy Director of Tien Giang Provincial Police, were on duty at the scene to command the fire fighting force.
Tien Giang Telecom also uses on-site personnel and equipment to support professional fire fighting forces.
The fire caused a loss of transmission signals, disrupting Vinaphone mobile service, Vinaphone internet and landline telephone connections in some areas in Tien Giang.
Tien Giang Telecom is urgently fixing the problem and service is gradually being restored.
