On May 21, Bu Dang District Forest Ranger Department (Binh Phuoc) coordinated with relevant units to hand over a rare endangered leopard cat to the Center for Propaganda, Tourism and Conservation Rescue (Bu Gia Map National Park) for continued care and release into the wild.
Previously, veterinarian Vi Van Kien (residing in Bu Dang district) went to Duc Lieu market (Duc Lieu commune, Bu Dang district) and discovered an animal caught in a trap (a mouse trap) in the corner of a closed kiosk.
Upon examination, Mr. Kien determined that this was a leopard cat in very poor health, with dull eyes and unable to move due to a broken leg caught in a trap.
The leopard cat was handed over to Bu Gia Map National Park for care, before being released into the wild.
Immediately afterwards, Dr. Kien removed the trap, took the leopard cat to the veterinary clinic for treatment, cast, and care. When the animal began to recover, Dr. Kien reported to the Bu Dang District Forest Protection Department. After receiving the leopard cat, the Bu Dang District Forest Protection Department handed it over to the Center for Propaganda, Tourism, and Conservation Rescue for further care and release back into the wild.
