As 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Australia and Vietnam, increased funding for the Aus4Innovation program is a significant demonstration of Australia’s long-term commitment to Vietnam’s sustainable and inclusive development.
The Aus4Innovation program is delivered through a tripartite partnership between the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australia’s national science agency CSIRO and the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). The program explores emerging areas in technology and digital transformation, tests partnership models between public and private sector organisations, and strengthens Vietnam’s capacity to forecast digital trends, develop strategic scenarios, accelerate research commercialisation and develop innovation policies. After 5 years of operation in 37 provinces and cities in Vietnam, the program has achieved some remarkable achievements: - Laying the foundation for 82 partnerships between Australian and Vietnamese universities, research agencies, high-tech businesses and policy makers - Establish a team of 875 lecturers and experts through capacity building activities - Deploy 12 innovative solutions using high technology to solve socio-economic challenges - Contribute to national policies on science, technology and innovation, as well as develop practical tools for formulating policies that contribute to creating a favorable environment for promoting innovation. - Building and developing 8 platforms to support innovation cooperation between research institutes and businesses |
