On March 20, within the framework of the 42nd National Television Festival in Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh), the workshop "Skills of television journalists in the digital environment" attracted the participation of many people.
The workshop includes two main contents: Skills to help TV journalists succeed in the digital environment and ways to optimize work efficiency with AI technology.

Reporter Nguyen Truong Son from the Center for Digital Content Production and Development, Vietnam Television shares the experience of television reporters switching to multitasking and succeeding in the digital environment.
Taking the example of the report "The Water Medium", in addition to reflecting on the profiteering from superstition, the TV crew decided to exploit more behind-the-scenes stories from this report such as the process of infiltration, investigation... and post them on digital platforms. This behind-the-scenes clip achieved 1 million views on YouTube.
According to Mr. Son, currently television workers face difficulties in production processes, equipment and content creation, so they need to proactively improvise and hone their skills.
"We have a conventional mindset about creating television works, while the audience on digital platforms is very diverse, so television workers have to change. Television has a limit on broadcasting time, but on digital platforms, that limit is no longer there, and at the same time, we can post information at any time...", Mr. Son shared.
AI is great for TV, but needs to be used with caution

Presenting the paper "How to optimize work efficiency with 'AI colleagues'", Mr. Ngo Truong Thinh - Head of Multimedia Department, Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV) News Center - said that for a weather forecast, the content creator now only needs to get information from the Hydrometeorological Station, then enter commands, request AI to write lyrics and perform a weather song. "This is a new way to attract viewers" - he said.
AI applications are also effective in television production stages such as interview detachment, production, graphic design, SEO article optimization, etc.
On the same topic of AI, Mr. Pham Tan Anh Vu (Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Solutions Joint Stock Company) said that the appearance of virtual MCs created by AI is currently changing the global television industry.
Virtual MC has the advantage of accuracy, no stumbling and spelling mistakes, can be used in emergency situations, need to be constantly updated without real MC or announcer.
However, the use of virtual MCs also poses many challenges because there is a risk of fake news and virtual MCs also lack the observation skills and experience of real journalists when broadcasting. Therefore, it is necessary to balance the benefits of technology and ensure sustainable employment for workers, which will be a big challenge that TV stations face when implementing this technology.
"Virtual MCs should be seen as a supporting tool, supplementing real MCs. This approach will take advantage of both, while minimizing concerns about employment and authenticity in journalism," Mr. Vu shared.
The conference also held a television technology exhibition to introduce modern equipment and technology products serving the production of television programs in the current digital age.
