U.22 Vietnam needs good players
Among the group of players who participated in the 32nd SEA Games, only Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Van Truong or Ho Van Cuong are likely to start. Van Khang is still playing regularly for The Cong Viettel Club, starting 8 matches and scoring 2 goals in the V-League 2024-2025 season. He was also called up by coach Kim Sang-sik to the Vietnam national team for the AFF Cup 2024 and played a good role every time he played. In the context that the Vietnam U.22 team does not have an excellent left-back, Van Khang is likely to play in this position. Compared to Nguyen Bao Long of PVF-CAND Club, Khang is still much more prominent.

Will Thai Son be the leader in the midfield of the U.22 Vietnam team at SEA Games 33?
On the opposite wing, Ho Van Cuong is still the most prominent name. He had a period of stagnation when he could not compete with Ho Tan Tai and Vu Van Thanh for a position at the Hanoi Police Club, but when he returned to SLNA, he played more and showed quite good form.
On the front line, Thai Son is still the most "prestigious" player at the age of U.22. He has played all 11 matches, scored 1 goal, and contributed greatly to helping the Thanh team top the V-League 2024-2025 rankings.
Another midfielder who has been given many opportunities is Nguyen Van Truong. Up to this point, he has played nearly 1,500 minutes in the V-League. At Hanoi FC, he mainly plays as a central midfielder, but in the Vietnam U.22 team, he can also be arranged to play as a striker thanks to his good physique, good handling in a narrow area, and good as a wall. This is how coach Hoang Anh Tuan uses him at the 2023 AFC U.20 Championship and this plan has proven effective.
Challenges for the "main actors" at SEA Games 33
Under coach Philippe Troussier, PVF-CAND players such as Nguyen Duc Phu and Nguyen Thanh Nhan often start for the Vietnam U.22 team. They are still important factors in coach Mauro Jeronimo's tactical scheme, often in the first division. However, to be able to continue to be called up to the Vietnam U.22 team and play as much as at the 32nd SEA Games, Duc Phu and Thanh Nhan need to make a lot of effort due to fierce competition.
Will Thanh Nhan still have enough strength to take a starting position at SEA Games 33 when Vi Hao and Dinh Bac are still performing well?
Duc Phu will have to perform better than Thai Son, Van Truong or even the overseas Vietnamese player Viktor Le of Ha Tinh Club. Meanwhile, Thanh Nhan has two very strong opponents, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Bui Vi Hao or even Nguyen Quoc Viet of Ninh Binh Club. This is also the challenge that midfielder Dinh Xuan Tien (SLNA), midfielder Nguyen Duc Viet (Ninh Binh Club) or goalkeeper Doan Huy Hoang (The Cong Viettel Club) will face.
The 33rd SEA Games will take place at the end of 2025, so the players still have plenty of time to show and affirm their talents with coach Kim Sang-sik. All players, even the experienced ones, must try their best if they do not want to become outsiders.
