U.17 Vietnam competes for a place at the U.17 World Cup

For the Vietnam U.17 team, VFF continues to trust coach Cristiano Roland - who led the Vietnam U.17 team to overcome the 2025 AFC U.17 qualifiers, as well as made a strong impression when defeating Uzbekistan 3-0 and Japan 1-0 to win the final position at the international friendly tournament Peace Cup - China 2024. In addition, in order to improve the quality of the Vietnam U.17 team's coaching staff to face bigger challenges at the 2025 AFC U.17 Finals, VFF has decided to appoint Mr. Yutaka Ikeuchi as a technical supervisor, accompanying head coach Cristiano Roland and his colleagues.

According to the plan, after the training period at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the Vietnam U.17 team will go to Oman for training from March 23 to March 29. Here, the team will have 2 "test matches" with the host U.17 Oman before moving to Saudi Arabia to participate in the 2025 AFC U.17 Championship, competing for the opportunity to participate in the 2025 FIFA U.17 World Cup when the number of participating teams increases from 24 to 48, of which Asia has 8 slots.

U.22 prepares carefully for SEA Games 33

Regarding the Vietnam U.22 team, preparations for the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games were also carried out very early, especially the work of building the force with many young faces being given the opportunity to concentrate and train with the national team. Some players even participated in the Vietnam team's lineup in official international tournaments, the most recent of which are Bui Vi Hao and Khuat Van Khang at the 2024 AFF Cup.

In 2025, the Vietnam U.22 team will continue to receive the support of the VFF to gather and train together with the national team during the FIFA Days. This March, the team will participate in the CFA Team China 2025 international football tournament, with a very high-quality squad of U.22 teams from different regions of Asia. In addition to the familiar guests, U.22 Vietnam (Southeast Asia) and U.22 Uzbekistan (Central Asia), the tournament will also have the participation of a very strong team from East Asia, U.22 Korea.

The Vietnam U.22 team under the leadership of acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh participated in a friendly tournament in China, meeting strong opponents.

According to the plan, the U.22 Vietnam team will gather again on March 10 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. Because it is the same time as the FIFA Days gathering in March 2025 of the Vietnam team, coach Kim Sang-sik continues to hand over the head coach position of the U.22 Vietnam team to assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

During the working trip to China on the occasion of the 2025 AFC U-20 Championship, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan met and discussed with the leaders of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and the Chinese Football Federation about the activities of the Vietnamese youth teams, focusing first on the training plan of the Vietnam U-17 team before the 2025 AFC U-17 Championship and the Vietnam U-22 team participating in the CFA Team China 2025 international football tournament.

Also on this occasion, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attended the final match of the 2025 AFC U-20 Championship as a member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Competition Committee of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and presented the award to the best player of the tournament - Alex Badolato of Australia.
