On June 17, in Tan My commune, Ba Tri district (Ben Tre), the inauguration ceremony of Darco Ba Lai clean water plant took place.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Roy Kho, Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Daniel Stork, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Dominic Balasuriya, Economic Consul - Australian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.
Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam, consuls from Singapore, the Netherlands, Australia and the investor of Darco Ba Lai Water Plant cut the ribbon to inaugurate the plant.
Mr. Wang Zhi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Darco Group (Singapore), the investor of Darco Ba Lai Clean Water Plant, said that the project has a total investment capital of 17 million USD (nearly 382 billion VND). The capital is mainly mobilized from Infraco Asia Organization, an organization specializing in mobilizing non-profit investment sources for the environment and improving the lives of people in poor rural areas in Asia.
The Darco Ba Lai Clean Water Plant Project Phase 1 was inaugurated with the capacity to provide clean water for about 7,000 - 8,000 households in Ba Tri Town and 15 communes in Ba Tri District (including Tan My, Tan Xuan, My Hoa, My Chanh, My Thanh, My Nhon, An Binh Tay, Tan Hung, Vinh Hoa, Vinh An, Phu Le, Phu Ngai, Phuoc Tuy, An Phu Trung, An Ngai Trung) and has the capacity to provide clean water for extended use to neighboring communes.
It is expected that after completing the entire project in 2024, the upgrade to a total capacity of 15,000 m3 of water/day will allow Darco Ba Lai to provide clean water to more households as well as support the supply of clean water for production in industrial parks.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam and consuls of other countries visited Darco Ba Lai water plant.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that the construction of Darco Ba Lai Clean Water Plant contributed to overcoming the shortage of clean water for production and daily life of people in the province in general, and the locality in particular, in the dry season. Ba Tri is one of the three coastal districts of Ben Tre province heavily affected by climate change, rising sea levels, saltwater intrusion and lack of fresh water for daily life.
"On behalf of the leaders of Ben Tre province, I warmly commend and respectfully acknowledge the great efforts and endeavors of the investor of Darco Ba Lai clean water plant in overcoming difficulties, being highly responsible in work, actively implementing their tasks, to soon put Darco Ba Lai clean water plant into operation," said Mr. Tam.
