As the first female general of the Vietnam People's Army, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dinh has strongly inspired the struggle and patriotism for many future generations.
On March 15, in Ben Tre City (Ben Tre Province), the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee jointly organized a ministerial-level scientific conference on “The life and revolutionary career of Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh” to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the birth of Female General Nguyen Thi Dinh (March 15, 1920 - March 15, 2025). Many leaders and former leaders of the central and local governments attended the conference.
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Acting Secretary of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, said that Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh was not only a pioneering woman on the front of the national liberation struggle, but also left a deep mark in many fields, especially in organizing, building forces and leading the women's movement. As the first female general of the Vietnam People's Army, she strongly inspired the patriotism, loyalty and indomitable will of Vietnamese women.
With 72 years of age, 56 years of continuous revolutionary activities and great contributions to the revolutionary cause and the country, comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh has been awarded many noble medals by the Party and State. In addition, she has also been awarded many medals and peace prizes by many countries and international organizations.
In particular, Moncada village in Luong Hoa commune and Ben Tre village in Cuba have formed and developed a relationship of solidarity and closeness between the two localities and two countries, which is still one of the special legacies that comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh has worked hard to cultivate and create.
Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen also said that over the past 65 years, the echoes of the 1960 Dong Khoi movement have remained intact in the Party Committee and people of Ben Tre province, especially when the Ben Tre Dong Khoi Day on January 17 was recognized by the Prime Minister as the traditional day of Ben Tre province. The Dong Khoi spirit of the past has been promoted in the process of building and developing the homeland with the emulation movement "New Dong Khoi" continuously from 1977 to the present, contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and tasks of the annual resolutions and resolutions of the Provincial Party Congress through the terms. Especially after 4 years of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the material and spiritual life of the people has been increasingly improved, the appearance of the province has become more and more prosperous.
On the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the birth of General Nguyen Thi Dinh, the Party Committee and people of Ben Tre as well as other localities have many activities to honor and enhance education on revolutionary traditions. Through the workshop, the Party Committee and people of Ben Tre hope that the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, and central agencies, ministries and branches will continue to support the province in developing a research project on the life and revolutionary career of Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh to submit and recommend to the Politburo and the Secretariat to add her to the list of outstanding senior leaders of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution.
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, emphasized that throughout her life, Comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh set a beautiful example of a Vietnamese woman who was “Heroic, indomitable, loyal, and responsible”; a talented female general; a prestigious leader, trusted and respected by the people, soldiers in the country, and friends around the world.
According to Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi, the workshop was held in the context that the entire Party, people and army are making efforts to accelerate the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; carrying out the revolution of streamlining the political system's apparatus towards being lean, compact, strong, operating effectively and efficiently, striving to increase the speed of socio-economic development with double-digit growth; at the same time, preparing well and holding Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress.
The workshop is a practical activity to commemorate and pay tribute to the vibrant and glorious revolutionary life and great contributions of comrade Nguyen Thi Dinh to the Party, to the Vietnamese revolution, to her homeland Dong Khoi Ben Tre and the affection of the Party Committee and people of Ben Tre for Female General Nguyen Thi Dinh.
In addition, at the conference, scientists and researchers presented papers clarifying the life and revolutionary career of General Nguyen Thi Dinh.
