On October 13, Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC) held a meeting with employees and launched a joint test operation of urban railway line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the NJPT consortium (general consultant)... and about 500 officers, employees and technicians of Urban Railway Company No. 1.
Mr. Le Minh Triet, Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (Metro Company No. 1) shared that after a long period of operation, the unit has gathered about 500 employees, trained and transferred technology from foreign contractors and experts to prepare for the operation of the first metro line in Ho Chi Minh City. These will be the pillars and foundation for the future urban railway system of the city.
Mr. Triet added that in the coming days, Metro Line No. 1 is preparing to enter the official operation phase. This phase will reveal practical difficulties and challenges, and the company's staff will apply knowledge and lessons learned into practice, thereby drawing experience and improving... before entering the official phase.
Urban Railway Company No. 1 officially handed over the decision to establish an operation enterprise and a maintenance enterprise. In which, the operation enterprise will be responsible for daily operations, focusing on the team of train drivers, station staff and support departments.
The goal is to create safe and convenient service for passengers, while ensuring standard operating procedures.
For the Maintenance Enterprise, this unit will manage and maintain the entire technical system, from locomotives to infrastructure.
Our team of technicians will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring the system operates continuously and safely.
Mr. Triet said that the establishment of the two enterprises not only demonstrates the commitment to building a modern public transport system but also serves as the foundation for the sustainable development of the city.

Regarding the trial run before the metro line is officially put into operation, Mr. Triet said that from October 14, the unit will organize a trial run under the supervision of the NJPT consortium and contractors. Previously, from October 1 to now, the entire line has been tested under the chairmanship of NJPT consultants.
Specifically, from October 14 to November 7, the metro line will run at 20%, with a train departing every 10 minutes; from November 7 to November 14, the line will run at 100%, with a train departing every 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
During this time, the entire force of the company including two newly established enterprises, of which, the Operation Enterprise including train drivers, dispatchers, station staff (398 people) and the Maintenance Enterprise including engineers, technicians, and maintenance (60 people) will be mobilized for trial operation.
The maintenance enterprise will be participated by the contractor Hitachi in maintenance after the train runs.

"Up to now, in terms of operational preparation, our company has enough capacity to ensure the task of operating the route.
On the side of the Project Management Board, the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Board will promote the work of assessing system safety, accepting fire prevention and fighting, working with the state acceptance council... to get approval and put the metro line into operation as planned," said Mr. Triet.
Mr. Phan Cong Bang, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, said that the bidding packages of the metro line 1 project are basically complete. Of which, the construction and installation work is 99.9% complete.
The Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board is closely monitoring and controlling the progress, ensuring the implementation of stages to put metro line 1 into operation in 2024.
In addition to the trial operation, the unit is urgently and highly focused on completing the remaining tasks such as fire prevention and fighting acceptance, system safety assessment, registration, and inspection of the acceptance work of the State Acceptance Council.
