The defendants at trial

The three defendants include: Dang Vu Truong Linh (born in 1999), Nguyen Thanh Binh (born in 1995), both residing in Thuan An ward, Thuan Hoa district, Hue city, and Ho Xuan Quy (born in 1995), residing in Thuy Duong ward, Huong Thuy town, Hue city.

According to the indictment, Linh, Quy, and Binh met each other while serving prison sentences at the Binh Dien Prison of the Ministry of Public Security. After completing their prison sentences and returning to their hometowns, the three often met and used drugs together.

Quy and Linh searched for places that sold crystal meth to buy; then resold it for profit. Quy and Linh knew that Binh used drugs and was short on money, so they asked Binh to help deliver the drugs. Binh agreed to pay 200-300 thousand VND for every 1 million VND worth of drugs sold.

On March 13, 2024, Quy went to Quang Nam and met an acquaintance who sold drugs, so he asked to buy 50 grams of crystal meth for 24 million VND. Then, through Quy's introduction, Linh also bought 40 grams of crystal meth from this person for 18 million VND and had it sent to Hue by bus.

At about 9:50 p.m. on March 16, 2024, at the intersection of Vo Van Kiet Street - Provincial Road 10 (Phu My Commune, Phu Vang District), when Linh had just received the goods and was waiting for a taxi to pick him up to hide the drugs, he was caught red-handed by the authorities, who seized a cardboard box containing 39.24 grams of drugs, Methamphetamine.

Previously, Linh had bought drugs from a subject on social networks many times and hired Binh to deliver drugs to many other people in the area.

The defendants have bad personal records and have all been convicted by court for drug-related crimes.

After reviewing the case file and questioning the defendants at the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced Dang Vu Truong Linh to 17 years in prison, Ho Xuan Quy to 15 years in prison and Nguyen Thanh Binh to 5 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal drug trafficking".
