Initiative from Vietnam, 15,000 people supported
Mr. Benjamin Rachow, General Director of L'Oréal Vietnam, said that the L'Oréal - For a Better Life program was founded in Vietnam in 2009 before becoming a globally applied model since 2015. The founder is Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Trinh, currently Deputy General Director of External Affairs and Sustainable Development of L'Oréal.
Since July 2009, free training programs in hairdressing and beauty skills have been implemented in remote and disadvantaged areas across the country. Participants are encouraged to participate in all women and young men and women with difficult circumstances.
Over the past 15 years, a total of more than 15,000 women have accessed the training program, helping them become financially independent and confident towards the future.
Mr. Rachow said the program is a living testament to the significance of the beauty industry, and over time becomes a powerful resource to contribute to social change and empower women.

Journey to overcome fate
On the occasion of the program's 15th anniversary, the Vietnamese women's empowerment program reopened the Color of Life contest, which was a playground for young talents who were students attending previous training courses and over time overcame adversity to assert themselves in the hair industry.
After attracting more than 300 contestants from all over the provinces, the contest entered the Final round in Ho Chi Minh City on November 22 with 10 contestants.
The most emotional contestant was Giang Thi Gau from Dien Bien. She shared that she dropped out of school in 9th grade, got married early and now has a young child. When the program came to Dien Bien, for more than 4 months she spent about 10 hours a day going to hairdressing and beauty classes, hoping to master the profession to help support her family. And last night she became the runner-up of the contest.
Judge Rebecca Brent from New Zealand, known as the "color wizard" in the world hair industry, highly appreciated the contestants.
She shared about her journey to overcome her fate: "I used to be a single mother and had a difficult life. However, I am now in Ho Chi Minh City as a judge for this competition." According to her, the secret to success is perseverance, determination, learning and constant practice.
From 2025, disadvantaged communities in Vietnam will be able to access career opportunities with a free training program for 5,000 e-Beauty Advisors (e-BAs), according to Mr. Rachow. This is a strategic step to expand the network of online beauty consultants, connecting and supporting individuals in developing business skills in the beauty industry.
