Phu Duc commune meets advanced new rural standards

DTO - On the afternoon of March 19, the Steering Committee of the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NTM) and Agricultural Restructuring of Tam Nong district held a ceremony to announce Phu Duc commune as meeting the advanced NTM standards. This is the fourth commune of the district to be recognized by the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to achieve this title.

Leaders of Dong Thap Provincial Coordination Office and leaders of Tam Nong District Party Committee awarded the Certificate of recognition of Phu Duc commune meeting advanced new rural standards in 2024.

Attending the event were Mr. Ngo Thanh Hung - Head of the Department of Rural Development, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Coordination Office; Mr. Chau Van Bo - Permanent Deputy Secretary of Tam Nong District Party Committee.

From 2019 to 2024, with a mobilized capital of over 75 billion VND, Phu Duc commune continues to maintain and improve the quality to achieve 19/19 criteria of an advanced NTM commune. Notably, the commune has constructed asphalt and concrete rural roads with a total length of over 35km; completed the irrigation system, dykes and solidified canals, built 90 culverts, and lowered the voltage of electric pumping stations to ensure irrigation water for agricultural production and people's daily life...

Average income per capita reached over 72 million VND/year (an increase of more than 27 million VND compared to 2019), the poverty rate was 0.97%, the working age population with regular jobs accounted for a high proportion. Housing meeting the standards of the Ministry of Construction is 1,521 units, accounting for over 75%; The commune health station examines, treats diseases and takes good care of people's health, more than 89% of the population in the commune participates in health insurance. The locality has 24 workers working abroad for a limited period, with an income of 25 - 30 million VND/person/month...

In recent times, local people have actively contributed funds, donated land, labor and proactively achieved criteria and targets that do not require state capital, such as implementing ecological rice production models in an organic direction; spraying pesticides on fruit trees with automatic systems; collecting agricultural waste; building houses of farmers' affection; model new-style rural flower roads; "Garbage-free rivers"; installing security cameras; women's groups classifying waste at households; turning plastic waste into money...

At the ceremony, leaders of the Provincial Coordination Office and leaders of Tam Nong District Party Committee awarded Certificates of Recognition for Advanced New Rural Commune to officials and people of Phu Duc Commune. On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding contributions to the work of building Advanced New Rural Communes received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Tam Nong District People's Committee and Phu Duc Commune People's Committee...
