A highlight of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum taking place at the City Party Committee Hall today, September 15, was the announcement of the Joint Statement signed between Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai and Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chairman of the WEF. Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan, on behalf of the City's leaders, and Mr. Jeremy Jurgens, Executive Director of the WEF, presented the Joint Statement in front of more than 1,200 delegates.
Previously, to concretize the determination of Ho Chi Minh City leaders in transforming into a green economy, a circular economy, and implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Prime Minister and WEF, in recent times, the City and WEF have had many working meetings and agreed to cooperate in establishing the Center for the 4.0 Industrial Revolution in the city named after Uncle Ho.
With this Joint Statement, the Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 in Ho Chi Minh City will be part of the WEF global network, proposing solutions and policy recommendations, conducting research on the City's priority breakthrough areas in line with national orientation and international trends. Thereby mobilizing resources, capital, supporting the Government and businesses to apply new technologies in line with the trend of Industrial Revolution 4.0 in the City in particular and Vietnam in general.
Sharing with the press, Mr. Jeremy Jurgens, CEO of the World Economic Forum (WEF) said that WEF, through the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, will test new approaches in developing a green economy and a circular economy.
WEF will support Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam in how to apply the most advanced technologies in the world in developing a green and circular economy. "We want to bring policy makers and businesses together to come up with appropriate policies for developing a green and circular economy," he said.
On the contrary, WEF "also hopes that the City will have good initiatives and practices so that we can "export" them abroad and popularize them with WEF's 4.0 Industrial Revolution Centers around the world."

Regarding recommendations for Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Jeremy Jurgens said, "the development of a green economy and a circular economy should put people first and foremost. It is important that we show people how a green economy and a global economy can positively impact people in their daily lives."
The WEF CEO also emphasized the importance of "having policies that bring together the participation of industries and businesses, which means that the green economy and circular economy directly serve the people, the economy and the whole society".
"This is my first time returning to Ho Chi Minh City after the Covid-19 pandemic. I can feel the dynamic development and abundant energy of the City. During this return, I witnessed many electric vehicles running on the streets, something I have never seen before.
