A teacher at Duong Dong Kindergarten used an object to hit preschool children - Photo cut from clip
On the afternoon of March 24, Mr. Do Van Tuan - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang - said that the Department of Education and Training of Phu Quoc City had issued an urgent dispatch directing Duong Dong Kindergarten (Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City) to clarify the issue related to many short clips recording the scene of a teacher at Duong Dong Kindergarten having substandard actions, beating preschool children, causing public outrage.
Mr. Tuan added that the school is urgently reviewing the matter to report to the relevant authorities. At the same time, the parents of the children are invited to come and clarify. If there is a violation, the teachers will apologize to the parents, then review the responsibility of each individual involved.
In another development at Duong Dong Kindergarten, a parent (who requested not to be named) also sent in her opinion and wished that the school would further review the children’s daily diet because there was information that the children were suspected of not having enough food. Thereby, many people raised the question of whether there was enough nutrition for the children to study and play.
Responding to this, Mr. Tuan said that the children's daily meals are posted on the board by the school so that parents can monitor their nutritional regimen.
"Every year we coordinate with relevant units to check the meals for children at school, food safety, and nutrition to ensure the health of the students," Mr. Tuan emphasized.
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that Phu Quoc netizens posted many short clips recording the scene of a teacher at Duong Dong Kindergarten beating a student.
Specifically, many teachers hit the children on the shoulders, pinched their ears, some even used mosquito rackets to force the children to line up or used objects like foam pieces to gently hit the children.
Social media users believe that the above actions are very offensive, anti-educational, and pose a risk of affecting children's psychology.
