Primary school admission in Ho Chi Minh City: 62.7% of parents satisfied

A quick survey by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training on enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year showed that 62.7% of parents were satisfied, while more than 20% said the procedures were still complicated.

On March 25, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training reported on the preliminary results of enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year.

Accordingly, the enrollment work for the 2024-2025 school year will be deployed online throughout the city, in which the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will build a unified enrollment portal to help parents register centrally (https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn); education departments will connect the system to the enrollment portal, synchronize data and allocate students according to local plans.

Parents' assessment of the admission regulations for primary schools, according to a quick survey by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, 45.4% of parents with children entering grade 1 said the procedures are faster and more convenient; 20.5% said the procedures have been improved but are still quite complicated; 9.3% said they are still the same; 24.8% do not know/find it difficult to answer.

40.3% of parents with children entering grade 6 said the procedures are faster and more convenient; 20% said the procedures have been improved but are still quite complicated; 8.9% said they are still the same; 30.9% do not know/find it difficult to answer.

Regarding the difficulties encountered in implementing the enrollment process at the primary level, 51.9% of parents said they did not encounter any difficulties; 9.3% of parents lacked information about the enrollment process and deadline; 8.6% of parents said there was a lack of guidance from authorities and schools; 8.4% of parents said the process was complicated and required multiple trips; 4.3% of parents had to queue in long lines to submit their applications; 18.2% of parents said the online registration system was unstable and often had errors.

Regarding parents' satisfaction with the school's guidance on primary school admission and enrollment, 62.7% of parents were satisfied; 23.8% were somewhat satisfied; 1.6% were dissatisfied; 12% did not know/had difficulty answering.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training assessed that the enrollment work for the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City has achieved positive results through the application of information technology, helping the enrollment process take place more smoothly and effectively.

In addition, the primary school admission system integrated with the city's education database has significantly reduced the number of documents parents have to submit.

The application processing time is shortened to 10-20 minutes instead of parents having to travel many times like before, reducing the time to process procedures by 70-80%. The simplified admission process allows parents to track the status of their application online, limiting travel and waiting.

However, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also admitted that there are still some issues that need to be resolved, such as lack of coordination between units, ineffective communication work, and some issues regarding transparency in the admission process.

Admission for the first level of the school year 2025-2026

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that the city's education sector will implement many solutions to overcome limitations and improve the effectiveness of early-level enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.
