Honoring the outstanding faces of Vietnamese Sports
On March 22, at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Vietnam Paralympic Committee in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee organized the Vietnam Sports Glory Program 2025.

The program "Glory of Vietnamese Sports 2025" is an event to honor 10 athletes, 5 coaches, 3 sports teams, 5 disabled athletes and 3 outstanding disabled sports coaches who have achieved outstanding achievements in 2024.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: The program is not only a meaningful event to honor and reward outstanding athletes and coaches, but also an opportunity to review the formation and development of Vietnamese Sports over the past 79 years, creating motivation to promote the patriotic emulation movement of the whole industry, striving to complete the important tasks set out in 2025.
Authorized by the President and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong presented the Third Class Labor Medal of the President to athlete Le Van Cong and coach Le Quang Thai.
Accordingly, based on the results of the Vote, at the program, the organizing committee honored 10 athletes, 5 coaches, 3 sports teams, 5 disabled athletes and 3 outstanding disabled sports coaches who achieved outstanding achievements in 2024.
Specifically, in the category of Outstanding Athlete of the Year, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh won first place with 1,286 votes. Ranked second in the list of outstanding athletes was athlete Tran Quyet Chien (Billiards, 849 points), and third place belonged to Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (Volleyball, 696 points).
The following positions respectively belong to: Nguyen Thi Huong (Canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (Rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh (Badminton), Nguyen Thi That (Cycling), Ha Thi Linh (Boxing), Tran Thi Nhi Yen (Athletics) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (Archery). Winning the title of National Outstanding Coach is coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet (Volleyball).

Weightlifter Le Van Cong won the title of Outstanding Disabled Athlete. Following him were Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (Weightlifting), Le Tien Dat, Do Thanh Hai (Swimming), and Doan Thu Huyen (Chess). Meanwhile, the three Outstanding Disabled Sports Coaches were Le Quang Thai (Weightlifting), Nguyen Dang Vien (Swimming), and Bui Quang Vu (Chess).
At the program, authorized by the President and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong presented the Third Class Labor Medal of the President to athlete Le Van Cong and coach Le Quang Thai. Le Van Cong is the first Vietnamese athlete to win a Paralympic gold medal, and also set a world record in weightlifting for disabled athletes in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Le Van Cong continued to win a bronze medal in the 49 kg category.

Another meaningful activity in the program is the Campaign “All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” and “Olympic Running Day for the health of all people”. 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Campaign and the 10th anniversary of Olympic Running Day for the health of all people.
In recent years, the Campaign “All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” and “Olympic Running Day for the health of all people” have attracted the participation of millions of people, cadres and soldiers across the country, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the people. Nearly 1,000 delegates, guests, coaches and athletes participated in the run at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center.

Thai Ambassador reveals a series of interesting cultural and sports exchange activities

Speaking at the program, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya said that on March 28-30, the event "Thai Cultural Days in Hanoi" will take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel. At this event, visitors will experience the quintessence of Thai culture, celebrate the traditional Songkran New Year and Loy Krathong Festival, enjoy authentic Thai cuisine and desserts, and enjoy special cultural and artistic performances of famous Thai films.
In addition, on April 3, 2025, the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association will co-organize a friendly U17 women's football match at the People's Police Academy stadium.
Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya also shared that the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) will take place from December 9-20, 2025 at a series of locations in Bangkok, Chonburi Province and Songkhla Province. According to Ambassador Urawadee Sriphiromya, these are localities famous for their vibrant culture, many beautiful landscapes as well as warm hospitality, which will continue to create a memorable SEA Games for the sports delegation and visitors.
