(NLDO) - Prizes worth nearly 115 billion VND were awarded to global scientific and technological research.
The VinFuture 2024 Award Ceremony will be held at Ho Guom Theater, broadcast live from 8:10 p.m. today, December 6 on VTV1, Vietnam Television, and rebroadcast on many online platforms.
Scientists receive the main prize of VinFuture 2023
The award will honor breakthrough inventions and technologies that contribute to improving the quality of life of millions of people around the world and promote the development of many industries and services that are important to humanity.
Following the success of the previous three seasons, this year, VinFuture attracted a record number of nearly 1,500 research projects nominated by more than 9,000 partners from more than 80 countries and territories around the world. The number of international scientists becoming nominating partners increased nearly 8 times, the number of nominations increased 2.5 times compared to the first season.
This year, Vietnam also has one nomination, a very modest number compared to nearly 1,500 nominations from around the world.
Professor Alta Schutte, University of New South Wales (Australia), shared at the seminar "Innovations in cardiovascular health care and stroke treatment" on the afternoon of December 5.
Explaining further why VinFuture is a Vietnamese award but there are very few nominations from Vietnam, Professor Richard Henry Friend, Chairman of the VinFuture Award Council, a world-leading physicist, said that VinFuture is a global award.
Professor Richard Henry Friend expressed his hope that wherever this award is mentioned in the world, it will be considered a prestigious award.
"We even want VinFuture to become the most prestigious award in the world," the world's leading physicist emphasized.
He also said that over the past 4 years, he has received a lot of positive feedback about the VinFuture Prize - a prestigious and respected award.

The VinFuture Awards ceremony brings together hundreds of outstanding global "brains" in key fields such as: materials science, artificial intelligence, medicine, environmental research... Among them, many researchers are the owners of prestigious international awards such as Nobel, Millennium Technology, Turing... and VinFuture in previous seasons.
With the message "Resilient Breakthrough", VinFuture 2024 honors groundbreaking research and inventions with far-reaching impacts, helping humanity to overcome difficulties and reach new heights.
As usual, this year’s VinFuture Prize system consists of four categories. Of which, the main prize is worth more than 76 billion VND, equivalent to 3 million USD. Three special prizes, each worth nearly 13 billion VND, equivalent to 500,000 USD, are awarded to female scientists, scientists from developing countries, and scientists researching new fields.
The band "Imagine Dragons" will bring special performances to the event.
The VinFuture Prize Council includes prestigious scientists and inventors from leading educational institutions, research institutes and technology corporations in the world. What makes this year’s award different is that the program will honor the nominating partners who have made important contributions to the mission of honoring and promoting science to serve humanity.
The VinFuture Awards 2024 also attracted public attention with the presence of leading names in the world and Vietnam in the field of culture and arts. The 21st century world rock music monument - the band "Imagine Dragons" will bring special performances to the event. The program also features Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, violinist Hoang Ho Khanh Van, and the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet will sublimate in performances imbued with the traditional identity and modern beauty of Vietnam.
Ahead of the award ceremony, scientists have predicted the fields that will be honored at the award. Among them, climate change, energy security, global health, artificial intelligence (AI)... are considered to be bright candidates.
