The information was released at a time when Viettel had just announced the successful deployment of the 5G Standalone (SA) network, showing that the time to commercialize 5G is not far away.
meCall is a service that allows customers to set up videos to play instead of the default call tone, or the usual ringback tone, so that callers can watch while waiting for the receiver to pick up. With meCall, each call becomes a unique and interesting visual experience, helping you express your personal style in each call.
Viettel Telecom representative said that during the initial launch, meCall was provided as a free trial for a small group of customers and will soon be deployed across the entire network.
Eligible customers (owning a smartphone that supports VoLTE, 4G/5G SIM) will be invited to try meCall with a default waiting video. To change the waiting video according to their preferences, customers can visit the website https://mecall.vn or the meCall application to choose and follow the instructions. In addition to installing for themselves, customers can also give waiting videos to relatives and friends through the gift giving feature on the application.
It is known that meCall currently supports many phone lines, including: Samsung A225F, Samsung A325F, Samsung A536E, Samsung A736B and it is expected that by the end of September, there will be 10 more phone lines: Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9/ S9 Plus/ S9 Ultra, Galaxy Flip 3, Galaxy Fold 3, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24/ S24 Plus, Galaxy Flip 5, Galaxy Fold 5, Galaxy S23/ S23 Plus/ S23 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9 FE/ S9 FE Plus can use meCall. The list of devices will continue to be updated regularly to ensure an optimized user experience.
Before announcing the trial provision of meCall video waiting service, on August 19, Viettel Telecom said that it had pioneered the research and successful deployment of the first independent 5G network in Vietnam (5G Standalone (SA).
Unlike 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) developed on 4G network infrastructure, 5G SA is an advanced and independent version, helping to improve flexibility, scalability and provide multiple services. Customers will have the opportunity to experience new 5G-based services such as meCall better on 5G waves as well as the 5G SA network that Viettel has just successfully developed.
