Domestic coffee price list updated on the morning of March 25, 2025 |
Domestic coffee prices last week continued to increase sharply by 1,800 - 2,800 VND/kg compared to the previous week, to 132,900 - 134,000 VND/kg. In the world market, at the end of the week, Robusta coffee futures for delivery in May 2025 increased by 118 USD/ton. Arabica coffee futures for delivery in May 2025 increased by 12.95 cents/lb.
Coffee prices continued to rise early this year due to concerns about supply shortages. According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), coffee output in the 2024-2025 crop year is expected to decrease by 5% compared to the previous crop year to about 27 million bags.
The impact of last year's El Nino dry weather phenomenon could cause lasting damage to coffee crops in South and Central America this year.
Experts believe that coffee prices will be under pressure to adjust in the coming time as the newly harvested supply will gradually be released to the market. However, the demand for coffee in the world is showing signs of decreasing due to the high selling price. Therefore, coffee prices will continue to adjust in the coming time.
According to a trader in the coffee growing area, some farmers have taken advantage of the high prices to sell their coffee to make a profit. However, many farmers who are not under financial pressure continue to hold on to their stocks in the hope that prices will rise further.
However, the amount of coffee left in farmers' warehouses is currently not much. This makes the market supply even tighter before the new harvest season.
Climate change is contributing to volatile coffee prices, according to a new report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The FAO calls for greater transparency and information sharing among parties in the global coffee supply chain.
Arabica coffee prices rose last week, supported by dry weather in Brazil and a stronger real. The stronger real reduces the incentive for Brazilian coffee producers to sell their beans for export. Robusta, meanwhile, was also supported by tight supplies. According to investors, supplies will continue to tighten until the Indonesian harvest begins.
