SJC gold price on the afternoon of February 22nd again increased to 79 million VND/tael even though world gold price only increased slightly.
At around 5 p.m. in Ho Chi Minh City, Mi Hong Gold Shop (Binh Thanh District) listed SJC gold at VND76.5 million/tael for buying and VND78.7 million/tael for selling, an increase of VND700,000 for buying and VND1 million for selling compared to the previous day. At the same time in Hanoi, SJC Company also increased by VND700,000 for both buying and selling to VND76.5 million/tael for buying and VND78.72 million/tael for selling.
The price of 9999 gold rings only increased slightly this afternoon. Specifically, SJC Company increased 50,000 VND in both buying and selling prices compared to the previous day, up to 63.5 million VND/tael for buying and 64.7 million VND/tael for selling. Bao Tin Minh Chau Company also increased 100,000 VND in both buying and selling prices, up to 64.52 million VND/tael for buying and 65.62 million VND/tael for selling.
On the world gold market, the spot gold price on Kitco on the afternoon of February 22 (Vietnam time) increased by about 2 USD compared to the previous session, to 2,030.1 USD/ounce. This price, after being converted according to the exchange rate at Vietcombank, is equivalent to 60.6 million VND/tael, lower than SJC gold by about 18.1 million VND/tael and lower than the price of 9999 gold rings by about 4-5 million VND/tael.
The world gold price has been on a slight recovery trend in recent sessions because the USD has increased again. The DXY index (measuring the USD's fluctuations against a basket of 6 major currencies) is at 104.1 points. Although the gold price is at its highest level in more than a week, the downward pressure on the gold price is increasing due to the possibility that the US Federal Reserve (FED) will keep interest rates high and longer, which has been reaffirmed in the minutes of the January 2024 meeting of the FED just released.
