According to Russian military correspondent Chingis Dambiev, who was covering the Avdeevka front, the Russian Army destroyed the third Abrams tank. Footage depicting the attack and destruction of the M1 Abrams was later released.
Specifically, an M1 Abrams tank of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was shot and burned near the village of Berdychi in the direction of Avdeevska. After discovering the target, soldiers of the 24th Special Guards Brigade ambushed and destroyed it with a shoulder-fired anti-tank missile.
In the released clip, the identities of the Russian soldiers involved in the operation were also revealed with nicknames such as Commander Gepard, Landing, Iroquois and Maloy. The entire process was recorded by UAV and edited by soldiers of the 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

Earlier, the developers of the Ghoul FPV drone released a video of the destruction of a second M1 Abrams tank. The video shows the manufacturer's suicide UAV attacking and destroying an Abrams tank that had been immobilized by previous attacks by Russian soldiers.
Also on March 5, a short clip appeared recording the destruction of AFU's M142 HIMARS rocket artillery system.
The video shows a combat vehicle standing at the edge of a forest perimeter and then exploding after being hit by a bullet. It is explained that the HIMARS was destroyed by a missile strike.
The Telegram channel “Military Informant” noted that this video is one of the first 100% visual confirmations of the complete destruction of this missile launcher since the beginning of the Special Military Operation.
Regarding the conflict, in the latest statement, the press spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, announced that Ukraine has prepared military surprises for Russia.
Matthew Miller did not provide any details, but added that Ukraine “has won great victories on the battlefield in the past.”
“We think they have a few surprises in store and can't wait to see the results,” said Matthew Miller.
On the evening of March 5, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council's strategic communications coordinator, said that President Volodymir Zelensky never asked for US troops to be sent to Ukraine. Accordingly, the Ukrainian leader only needed weapons and resources to conduct military operations. Mr. John Kirby said: " Mr. Zelensky himself and his military want to fight."
In his speech, John Kirby noted that AFU defenses were being deployed “in the wrong direction” as Russian troops were moving west. He also warned that delaying additional national security funding would have a “detrimental impact” on the Ukrainian military.
Immediately after the above statement, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasized: " We must express our admiration, when it comes to supporting its allies, the US is always consistent with its rhetorical stance."

Military expert Vasily Dandykin, in a conversation with the Russian news agency Lenta, explained that one of the reasons for the defeat of the AFU front was the huge losses of personnel and equipment: “There are huge losses when Ukraine loses experienced servicemen. This is accompanied by losses of equipment, including irreplaceable foreign equipment. In addition, soldiers on the battlefield do not get rest and get tired. This is aggravated by the fact that trained mobilized soldiers are sent to the front. Stress and fatigue only accumulate.”
Earlier, details of the failure of the AFU plan in Avdeevka were revealed in Kiev. Ukrainian units were forced to flee defensive positions in the city after Russian assault units cut the city in half and surrounded it, cutting off several lines of defense within hours.
