After a lackluster first half, U23 Vietnam found their first shot in the 23rd minute, after which coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team began to put more pressure on their opponents. A surprise happened in the 31st minute, when Ibraheem acted violently by stepping on Van Khang's thigh, after consulting VAR, the referee sent off the number 7 U23 Kuwait player.
Despite having one more player, U23 Vietnam still needed more than ten minutes to make an impression. In the 45+2 minute, Van Truong passed the ball delicately to Van Tung, who ran down to receive the ball and then finished past goalkeeper Abdulrahman to open the score.

Just two minutes after taking the lead, U23 Vietnam was awarded a penalty when Ngoc Thang pulled down his opponent in the penalty area. Initially, the referee gave a yellow card to the U23 Vietnam defender, but after consulting VAR, the referee decided to change the yellow card to a red card. On the 11m mark, Al Awadi successfully kicked the penalty kick to equalize 1-1.
After the break, coach Hoang Anh Tuan decided to replace the entire attack line by taking out Van Khang, Van Tung, and Vo Nguyen Hoang and bringing in Vi Hao, Minh Quang, and Manh Hung. The surprise broke out in the 47th minute when goalkeeper Abdulrahman made a mistake when receiving a pass back from his teammate, creating an opportunity for Vi Hao to take the ball and score, raising the score to 2-1.
The surprise goal at the beginning of the second half helped coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team relieve pressure and play quite comfortably in the following period. In the 55th minute, the U23 Kuwait net shook for the third time, however, VAR determined that there was an offside error by a U23 Vietnam player before Minh Khoa put the ball into the net, so the goal was not recognized.

Falling into a chasing position, but U23 Kuwait could not rise up, the West Asian team even gradually lost steam and played quite hard in the second half of the second half. After increasing the score to 3-1, U23 Vietnam actively played defensively to protect the score. U23 Kuwait could not threaten Van Chuan's goal so they had to accept defeat. After the first round, U23 Vietnam ranked first in Group D due to a better sub-index than Uzbekistan. In the next round, U23 Vietnam will play U23 Malaysia (8:00 p.m. on April 20).
