After a 1-0 victory over host U.23 Tajikistan 3 days ago, U.23 Vietnam and this opponent will have a rematch at 10:00 p.m. on March 23. This is the second match of coach Moulay Azzeggourah and his team in Tajikistan, during the training trip to prepare for the 2024 AFC U.23 Championship finals.

Compared to the previous match, U.23 Vietnam had 10 changes in the starting lineup. Many potential faces such as center back Le Nguyen Hoang, defender Ho Van Cuong, midfielder Vo Hoang Minh Khoa or strikers Tran Manh Quynh and Nguyen Minh Quang were given starting positions.

The U.23 Vietnam coaching staff wants to take advantage of the match for the players to prove their abilities and regain their competitive spirit, in the context that many young stars cannot play in the V-League to gain experience.

Similar to the previous match, the U.23 Vietnam players entered the match confidently, played aggressively and created some clear opportunities. U.23 Vietnam pushed up their formation to press fiercely, making it difficult for U.23 Tajikistan to launch an attack. Minh Khoa and his teammates also circulated the ball very quickly, coordinated passes smoothly, especially on the two wings to create danger.

The most notable of which was Minh Quang's speedy dribble down the left flank, getting past the U.23 Tajikistan goalkeeper and unleashing a low diagonal shot. However, the ball went wide of the post.

After the break, U.23 Vietnam continued to adjust their players and playing style. Coach Moulay's students played more directly and faster.

In the 57th minute, Van Cuong dribbled the ball at high speed, eliminating the U.23 Tajikistan defense and then passed the ball into the goal. However, in front of the empty goal, Bui Vi Hao rushed in and missed the shot, then Ha Van Phuong unfortunately missed the post.

But in the middle of the second half, U.23 Vietnam "rotated" the players, creating conditions for many substitutes to enter the field. The shuffle of the lineup made it impossible for Vi Hao and his teammates to create stable pressure.

The two teams created a few more scoring opportunities, but were unable to capitalize. The rematch between U.23 Vietnam and U.23 Tajikistan ended in a 0-0 draw. The result satisfied both teams, especially U.23 Vietnam as the entire squad had a chance to show their skills. The players' performances also showed many bright spots.

Vietnam U.23 is running "finally" to prepare for the 2024 AFC U.23 Championship finals. Coach Philippe Troussier's team is in the same group as Uzbekistan U.23, Kuwait U.23 and Malaysia U.23. The team's goal is to pass the group stage, then calculate to win one of the three leading positions (champion, runner-up or third place) to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In the context of the Vietnamese team having many worries in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup, the U.23 Vietnam team brought joy to coach Troussier.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam U.23 team will take a flight back home on the night of March 24. It is expected that the team will regroup in early April, with the strongest force planned for the competition at the U.23 continental arena.
