On the afternoon of July 14, in Taiwan (China), the Vietnamese men's volleyball team lost to Thailand in the semi-finals of the AVC Challenge Cup 2023 with a score of 1-3 and entered the third place match.
Entering the first set, the Vietnamese team won 25-20 after being led by Thailand 2-6. It was thought that the victory in set 1 would create a good mentality for the whole team in set 2, but the Vietnamese players made many mistakes in the first step as well as in their attacks and lost 13-25.

Although in set 3, the Vietnamese players tried very hard to reduce the score but still lost 22-25. In set 4, the Thai team completely dominated and won 15-25 against the Vietnamese team. Thailand's excellent serving ability made it impossible for the Vietnamese team to deploy their playing style.
Losing 1-3 to Thailand, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will compete for third place in the 2023 AVC Challenge Cup and will meet the losing team in the second semi-final between Korea and Bahrain.
