Veterans burn incense in memory of their comrades

The ceremony to commemorate the heroic martyrs took place in a solemn, heroic and emotional atmosphere. Despite their old age and weak health, the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers still remains.

At the memorial service, the veterans together reviewed the heroic traditions of the 804th and 810th battalions. They expressed their joy at meeting their old comrades again, reminding each other of the memories of fierce battles and the comrades who had fallen forever for the independence and freedom of their homeland.

The 804th Battalion was established by the Ministry of National Defense on April 30, 1964 in Nghe An. After completing training, it was sent to the Tri Thien battlefield to fight to protect the Fatherland. In February 1966, the Provincial Military Command assigned the 804th Battalion to station in Phu Vang. In March 1966, the 810th Battalion returned to Huong Tra to coordinate with the district armed forces and commune working teams to fight the enemy and mobilize the masses to build up forces.

During the 1968 Spring Offensive and Uprising, Battalion 804 attacked Kho Ren Bridge, developed the attack to destroy the field police headquarters, occupied the area of intersection 6, and captured Hue Radio Station. Battalion 810 fought the enemy in Dong Di and Tam Dong villages (Phu Vang district), together with the Van Duong female guerilla team, fought the enemy counterattack in the Cong market - stadium area (now in Xuan Phu ward).

After the Mau Than campaign in 1968, the 804th and 810th battalions withdrew to Phu Vang to consolidate their forces. Here, our troops fought back many enemy sweeps against our rear bases and military bases. The main force of the 804th and 810th battalions and the district armed forces suffered heavy losses, many soldiers were sacrificed in the anti-sweep battles in Le Xa Dong, Vien Trinh, Truong Luu, Thanh Lam, Truong Ha, Moc Tru...

By 1971, due to mission requirements, Battalion 810 was disbanded. Battalion 804 continued to fight in Phu Vang, Phu Loc, and Nam Dong districts until the country's reunification. In March 1981, Battalion 804 was also disbanded. With many glorious achievements, in 1975, these two battalions were awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.
