On March 24, information from the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi (Quang Binh) said that doctors had just successfully treated a critical case caused by homemade firecrackers.
The patient is NHL, 16 years old, residing in Tuyen Hoa district, was admitted to the hospital in a serious state of multiple injuries.
Upon examination, doctors determined that the patient had completely lost his left hand and his right hand was severely crushed. In addition, there were many open wounds on his face, abdomen and legs. X-ray results also showed that there was a foreign object causing internal organ damage.

According to the patient's family, L. had previously made a homemade firecracker by pouring explosives into a metal can. Unfortunately, the firecracker exploded close to him, causing many serious injuries.
Immediately after receiving the patient, the doctors performed first aid, held an emergency consultation and transferred the patient to the operating room.
"We performed surgery to create a stump on the left hand and treated the crushed wound on the right hand. At the same time, doctors from the Gastroenterology Department performed surgery to remove the foreign object and restore the damaged internal organs. The entire treatment process involved close coordination between specialties such as anesthesia and blood transfusion to ensure maximum safety for the patient.
Currently, after surgery, the patient has overcome the critical stage and is in the process of recovery treatment," shared Dr. Hoang Anh Phuong (Orthopedic Trauma Surgery Department).
Dr. Phuong also warned parents about the potential risks of children making homemade firecrackers, which not only cause serious injuries, but can also be life-threatening.
