Hanoi , in particular, is home to a wide variety of food and beverage services, including street food such as grilled meats, skewers, and fast food, attracting a large number of locals, tourists, and especially students.
Besides their convenience, these food stalls also pose many food safety risks due to inadequate storage and processing conditions, the use of ingredients of unknown origin, and the risk of contamination with harmful microorganisms and chemicals.

To further strengthen food safety assurance, prevent food poisoning, and protect consumer health, the Food Safety Department of the Ministry of Health has issued công văn (official letter) No. 532/ATTP-NĐTT requesting the Hanoi Department of Health to urgently and proactively coordinate with functional units to monitor and implement food safety control measures.
The Hanoi Department of Health, along with other units, inspects and monitors compliance with food safety regulations, strictly controlling the source of raw materials, food additives, and frying oils and fats, especially for grilled meats, skewers, and fast food items.
At food service establishments, street food vendors, and food stalls around schools, strictly handle cases of food safety violations; mobilize the participation of all levels of government, mass organizations, and socio-political organizations in the area.
In addition, the Hanoi Department of Health is stepping up the dissemination of knowledge on food safety, measures to ensure food safety and prevent food poisoning to business owners, food service operators, and street food vendors; and educating consumers, especially primary and secondary school students, to choose clean eateries.
